State Inspections
How To Be In Compliance
Restore RI Grants
Good evening,

Below are two sections that we believe will be of benefit to you.
COMPLIANCE

As a member of the Central Rhode Island Chamber or a business who has received PPE from the Central Rhode Island Chamber we want to help you be in compliance with the State guidelines and avoid a violation and compliance order.  Companies in violation are listed on the Dept of Business Regulation website.

We are hearing from multiple businesses that when the state came in for an inspection they determined their plan was not complete, or that ALL the employees were not familiar with its content. Some of the issues shared with us were: no attachments of communications to employees, no written description of how the business would respond if someone tested positive, no plexiglass between the clerk and the customer. The State is working with companies to become compliant but we would like to help you be ready for the inspection ahead of time.

We encourage you to revisit your plan - make sure you have attached the communications required - read through it again to make sure it does not need updating - review it with every employee and make sure they all know where it is located. For compliance related to your specific industry visit https://www.reopeningri.com

RESTORE RI GRANTS

"Grants will be available for up to $15,000 for eligible Rhode Island businesses impacted by COVID-19. Grant amounts will be calculated based on the number of employees and the degree of revenue loss."

The application is not yet available but keep checking the link as the funds are limited and not anticipated to last very long.

The link above contains information about the eligibility, process, and eligible uses.

It also contains a list of what you will need to gather together so you can apply. One of the items is a DUNS number. If you do not have one you may wish to apply now as D & B states it can take up to 30 days to obtain one (this is what the Federal Government uses to track finances and the money being used is from the CARES Act. There is a Free option to obtain a DUNS number as well as additional options at a fee.

"Required documentation is anticipated to include:

  • Verification of COVID impacts and revenue loss
  • Documentation of reopening-related expenditures
  • Verification of number of employees
  • Viability test which may include a plan to demonstrate how the business is adapting to the new normal
  • Additional required information, such as verification of the number of employees, a federal DUNS number, and W-9"

Look up to see if you already have a DUNS Number https://www.dnb.com/duns-number/lookup.html
