Shop Local in Downtown Antioch for the Holidays

With the holiday season approaching, it’s the perfect time to explore downtown Antioch and support the local businesses that help make our community unique. From one-of-a-kind gifts to favorite restaurants and local services, the downtown offers plenty of ways to shop, dine and celebrate close to home.

Every purchase at a local business makes a difference. Shopping locally helps to strengthen Antioch’s economy, support jobs, and contribute to a vibrant downtown. Whether you're visiting a longtime favorite or discovering something new, residents can help these businesses continue to thrive.

The Village’s "Destination Downtown Antioch" campaign offers a closer look at the people and stories behind the downtown businesses. Through a series of videos, residents can meet local business owners, learn what inspires them, and discover new places to visit. Explore the videos and find your next favorite destination here.

Fall Leaf Collection Begins in November

Now that autumn has arrived, the Village’s Fall Leaf Vacuuming Program - provided by Groot Industries - returns for the first four full weeks of November. The program offers residents a convenient way to manage fallen leaves, with collection dates varying by area and weather conditions.

To prepare for pickup, rake leaves to within three feet of the road, keeping them out of ditches. Wet or heavy leaves can slow collection and cause service delays.

Labeled yard waste cans or bags are still an option for leaf disposal, and are collected on the Village’s regular Thursday garbage collection day. Learn more here.

Antioch Sequoits Finish Undefeated, Head to Playoffs

The Antioch Community High School football team finished its regular season undefeated at 9-0, earning the No. 1 seed in its Class 5A playoff bracket and a first-round bye. Now, the Sequoits are ready to take that momentum into the playoffs as they pursue a championship run!

The team will host Glenbard South at 7 p.m. tomorrow (Friday, October 30), for its first playoff game. Fans are encouraged to fill the stands, show their Sequoit pride and cheer the team on to victory! The game’s theme is Halloween. Please note: masks, simulated weapons and inappropriate costumes are not permitted.

This season also celebrates senior Harrison Victor, a three-year starter whose journey from a Make-A-Wish guest at an Antioch football game at age 6 to a standout player is an inspiring example of perseverance and Sequoit pride. After successfully undergoing treatment for a rare form of cancer, Harrison now helps lead the team as a defensive end and tight end.

Congratulations to the players and coaches on an outstanding season so far! Let’s keep the momentum going and support the Sequoits in the playoffs. Learn more here.
