Learning, Loving, and Leading through Christ | | Follow Us on Social Media! | | | Mrs. Schermetzler Says... | | |
Dear St. Alphonsus Families,
I hope you all had a great weekend! It looks like a lot of students are finally feeling better! I am hopeful that spring weather will allow for some open windows this week to continue clearing out all the germs!
Please join me in congratulating Mrs. Sagat, who delivered a beautiful baby boy last night! Baby Lincoln joins big brother Jackson and big sisters Parker & Grace. We wish the whole family the best and send our support and prayers for the newborn days ahead! (His picture is shared with permission.)
Although the weather will be sunny and warm this week (we hope!), please remember that our dress code does not allow for shorts and skorts until April 1. Skirts still need to have tights or leggings under them as well. You can always check what our dress code is for things like this by visiting our website here!
A reminder that spring conferences will take place this Thursday, March 5 from 4-6pm, with some select teachers starting at 3:30pm. Spring conferences are optional and take place during a limited time frame. The conference sign-up genius was released on Friday; you can find the link here as well as below in this newsletter.
Our internal Financial Aid application is now linked below. This application is for families who are NOT applying for School Choice. We are able to offer a limited amount of financial aid due to the support we receive from private donors and foundations who share our goal in making Catholic education affordable to all families. These applications are due by April 17.
Related, the second round of School Choice applications is now open and will remain open until March 2. You can find more details and a link below.
This week we will celebrate our 8th Grade Boys Basketball Team as they head off to the prestigious Padre Serra Basketball Invitational, taking place at Dominican High School from March 5 to March 22nd. The Padre showcases the top 8th grade girls’ and boys’ teams from across the Archdiocese of Milwaukee and is one of the longest-running and most respected invitational basketball events in the Midwest. We will send our team off to the Padre with a short pep rally on Thursday afternoon. We encourage our families to attend some of the games and support your St. Alphonsus Cougars! You can find more information here.
We will have an out of uniform day on Tuesday, March 17 to celebrate St. Patrick's Day! Please dress your students in green and white or St. Patrick's t-shirts, etc. Any student who choose not to participate should wear their regular school uniform.
It's your last chance to sign up for this weekend's Puzzle Guzzle, a new event from St. Alphonsus Home & School. Check out all the details below and consider getting a babysitter and joining us!
Lastly, a reminder that there is no school on Friday, March 6 as our teachers have one of their last Professional Development sessions of the year.
I wanted to once again remind you that if you need anything while Mrs. Sagat is out, please don't hesitate to reach out. Email is the quickest way to get me and I always try to respond within 24 hours. My email address is aschermetzler@st-alphonsus.org. Please note that while I do check email on the weekends, I also try to have some semblance of work/life balance then, so you may find that weekend emails that are not urgent will be answered first thing on Mondays. Thank you!
Have a great week! Thank you for all your support.

Girls on the Run is Back for the 2026 Season!
Registration is open from February 16th to February 22nd at this link.
GOTRSEWI.ORG
The Girls on the Run program inspires girls in Grades 3 through 5 to discover, build, and grow their self-confidence. Together, they experience a sense of belonging and connection as a team. Volunteer coaches facilitate lessons that blend physical activity with life skill development, including managing emotions, fostering friendships, and expressing empathy. At the end of the season, the team completes a Community Impact Project and a 5K together, which provides a tangible sense of accomplishment and sets a confident mindset into motion.
This year's practice dates will be Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00 to 4:30pm. The season will run from March 23rd to June 1st.
Our coaches this year are Mrs. Domzil (5K teacher), Ms. Brennan (former 5th grade teacher), and Mrs. Knautz (3K teacher).
For questions, please reach out to Mrs. Domzil at kdomzil@st-alphonsus.org.
