Join us for a visit to the Morgan Library & Museum in mid-town Manhattan.

A view of the museum and special Renoir Drawings exhibit, followed by lunch. 

About the Tour

The Morgan Library is a private collection of art and artifacts housed in a

former gilded-age mansion a few blocks south of Grand Central.

In addition to the regular collection, the museum currently has a

special exhibition of Renoir drawings.

Per their catalogue:

"While the paintings of Auguste Renoir (1841–1919) have become icons of Impressionism, his drawings, watercolors, and pastels are far less widely known. In fact, drawing remained central to his artistic practice even as his interests and ambitions changed over the course of a long career. This exhibition explores the ways in which Renoir used paper to test ideas, plan compositions, and interpret both landscape and the human figure."

After touring the museum and the special exhibit, we will have lunch in the

museum cafe or at a local restaurant.

The Morgan Library is close to Fifth Avenue which affords the opportunity

to shop or view Christmas decorations after lunch.

Getting there

We will take the 9:00 train from Westport to Grand Central. 

(This train is off-peak fare; half-price for seniors.) 

Meet on the Saugatuck or Greens Farms train platform. 

Alternatively, meet up at Grand Central by the clock in the main hall by 10:30. 

After time for bathroom visits,

it is a short walk down Madison Avenue to the Library on 36th Street
