IN OUR PRAYERS

  • We hold John Farris in prayer as he faces health concerns. May he be surrounded by God's healing love, sustaining strength, and comforting peace.

  • Nursery caregiver Delmi Zapet, a long-time caregiver in our church nursery, has shared that she recently lost her full-time weekday job. In addition to a request for prayers for her and her family, Delmi asks that if anyone knows of possible employment opportunities, she would be very grateful. Please reach out to Rev. Anna Grace Claunch or to Betty Roodal in our church office with any recommendations.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Hall, wife of former LAC Associate Pastor, Gary Hall, who was with us here at LAC in the mid-1970's until the early 1980's.

Helen Harbaugh Rankin Hall was born August 15, 1938, in Pennsylvania and died July 11, 2026, in Georgetown, Texas at the age of 87. A graduate of Maryville College in east Tennessee, she also lived in Kentucky, Ohio, Illinois, New York, New Mexico, and Colorado.

She enjoyed gardening, history, geography, the outdoors, travel and the years she spent at Ghost Ranch. She inspired curiosity and a love of learning in her children and grandchildren, who meant the world to her. An avid reader, she was a faithful patron of Georgetown Public Library. A gifted cook, she spent many years growing her own vegetables. She loved to sew, knit, crochet, weave (yarn and wheat), and quilt, and may be remembered best for her colorful, intricate, personalized, and completely unique cross-stitch art that was gifted often and will be cherished far into the future.

Passionate about human rights and social justice, she worked and volunteered with others involved in these shared interests, including the League of Women Voters and the National Women’s Hall of Fame.

The eldest child of Presbyterian minister Lynn Boyd Rankin and his artist wife Marianne Hirst Rankin, Helen is survived by her two younger brothers, Frankin Rankin (Jeanine) and Douglas Rankin (Wendy); her three children, Debora Hall (Robert Taylor) of New Mexico, Mark Hall (Susan Brodie) of Colorado, Tim Hall (Shannon) of Round Rock, Texas; and three grandsons, Jacob (Ashlee), Benjamin, and Logan Hall.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Georgetown Public Library.

PRESCHOOL TO

YOUNG ADULT

BOOK DONATIONS ARE NEEDED!

Have you seen our Little Lending Library on the corner of Forest Park and Wendt Avenues?

The "take one/leave one" library has been operating for about 8 months now and seems to be a neighborhood favorite. As we gear up for Fall, we are looking for book donations. Do you have gently used preschool to young adult books you'd like to donate? We'd love to have them! You can simply drop them in Russell Hall, and we will collect them. PLEASE no magazines, coloring books, or adult books (fiction or nonfiction).

Special thanks again to Patty Towle for the wonderful library design!

All are invited to join our LAC Mission Partner, the STEM Alliance for the Co-Op Summer Enrichment Open House!

Led by The STEM Alliance, Co-Op Summer Enrichment is the award-winning summer program for low-income families in

the Mamaroneck School District. By attending the open house, you’ll get to

experience Co-Op learning in action and its impact on our local community.

Through a brief presentation and tour, you’ll witness the spark of learning and

curiosity from the students, the passion and creativity of the instructors, and

the supportive, fun nature of the counselors.
