'Patriot Day' This Sunday

This coming Sunday, Sept. 11, 2022 is the 21st anniversary of the terror attacks that killed 2,977 people and injured more than 25,000. To this day, it remains the deadliest terrorist attack in human history and the single deadliest incident for firefighters and law enforcement officers in the history of the United States. More than 400 police officers and firefighters were killed that day. A few weeks after the terrorist attacks, the Global War on Terrorism began when U.S. and British forces initiated aerial bombing campaigns in Afghanistan, targeting Taliban and al-Qaeda camps. Heritage Park here in Lakeway, located at the corner of Lohmans Crossing Road and Hurst Creek Road, currently honors more than 20 past and present Lakeway residents who served during that war, and more than 1,100 others who served in previous wars. If you're interested in learning more about Heritage Park or how to be included as part of that memorial, please CLICK HERE.
