A Message from Your Mayor
Thank you, Pembroke Pines for being prepared this hurricane season. We've all been told that forecasters are predicting an extremely active year. We need to work together. If you have not yet begun preparing, please visit www.ppines.com/hurricane for information, videos and resources. The National Oceanographic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) will be launching a new hurricane cone later this season. You can view a helpful video explaining this. And, take advantage of the Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday being held now through June 14,

Beginning at 5:30 pm tonight, June 5, the City of Pembroke Pines Commission Meeting will be held in Commission Chambers, located at 601 City Center Way. The meeting will begin at 5:30 pm with Board/Committee Reports followed by the Regular Commission Meeting. The meeting can be viewed in person, and via Channel 78 on Comcast, the city website at www.ppines.com or the city's YouTube channel. | |

Summertime Tea
The deadline is quickly approaching -- The annual Summertime Tea is a great time to relax with friends or make new friends while enjoying an array of tea sandwiches, decadent desserts and assorted afternoon teas. This year’s tea will take place on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Carl Shechter Southwest Focal Point Community Center Campus, located at 301 NW 103 Ave.
The cost is $20 per person (CASH only) and reservations are required. Reservations must be made by June 19, 2024. For reservations, please call 954-450-6888 or visit the Center.

Caribbean American Heritage Festival -
Save the Date!
The City of Pembroke Pines Recreation and Cultural Arts Department will be hosting a Caribbean-American Heritage Festival on Saturday, June 29, 2024, from 6:00 pm-10:00 pm at the Charles F. Dodge City Center, located at 601 City Center Way.
This family-friendly event will feature the rhythmic beats of Caribbean music with live musical and dance performances, a delicious Caribbean food court and a dry goods village. As part of the Festival, visitors can discover the intricate artistry of Caribbean crafts and artwork at The Frank C. Ortis Art Gallery which will offer lectures, workshops and arts and crafts for the entire family. See schedule below. All ages are welcome to participate in a day filled with celebration, cultural exchange, and the spirit of togetherness as we pay tribute to the vibrant Caribbean American community.

15th Annual Mayor's Kids' Day for Pines Residents
The City of Pembroke Pines 15th Annual Mayor’s Kids Day is being held on Friday, June 21, 2024. This fun-filled day takes place throughout the city where Pembroke Pines businesses want to make Pembroke Pines Kids their VIPs by offering gifts and surprises for residents ages 15 and under. To participate, each child (must be a resident) will need an “Every Kid is a VIP in Pembroke Pines Wristband” from the Recreation and Cultural Arts Department. Preregistration in person is required to receive this free wristband -- see below where they are now available and for info, or call 954-392-2116.

The Frank Art Gallery -- Join the City of Pembroke Pines and The Frank C. Ortis Art Gallery for the opening reception of Yuyi Morales: Soñadora on Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 6 pm to 9 pm. Visitors to the Gallery will experience the enchanting world of Yuyi Morales, a six-time recipient of the prestigious Pura Belpre Award and the first Latina to receive a Caldecott honor for her book Viva Frida in 2015. The opening reception is free and open to the public and will feature music and light refreshments. No ticket is required, and parking is free. This exhibition will run through August 14. The exhibition will feature over 60 original illustrations, organized by the National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature, to showcase and celebrate Morales’ journey and her vibrant storytelling.
