Drop-in Hours Added for Goldman Center Housing Accessibility Accommodation Requests

Each application for a medically-necessary housing accessibility accommodation request for Fall '24 - Spring '25 requires that the student meet with a Goldman Center staff member to discuss the details of their request. Appointment availability has become very limited so the Goldman Center will have drop-in hours Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 2:30 - 4:00 pm through February 27th. All requests must be presented to the Housing Committee for review and final determination. Urge your student not to miss their opportunity to meet with Goldman Center staff and have their application considered for their housing needs.

Students seeking to request medically-necessary accommodations in the residence halls can learn more about the application process and campus resources at our website. Questions? Contact the Goldman Center at goldman@tulane.edu or 504-862-8433 with further questions.

Mardi Gras Kick-off, education and safety tips

MG Kick Off 2025

At Tulane, we have a long history of educating our students about how to enjoy the season safely and responsibly. The Well for Health Promotion, a department of Campus Health and Wellness, offers educational opportunities to equip students with the knowledge and skills to have a safe Mardi Gras experience. Encourage your student to take advantage of these activities and resources:

(First-come, first-served.)

Educational materials

The Well has distributed a series of posters and resource cards that aim to help students navigate Mardi Gras. Topics include parade etiquette, checklists, taking care of each other, alcohol safety, emergency contacts, and campus resources.

Mardi Gras Student Safety Tips Message

On February 12, 2025 our Dean of Students and Chief of Police emailed an important Mardi Gras Student Safety Tips message with information on:

  • Tulane student organizations' efforts to educate their peers and reduce harm,
  • personal safety precautions,
  • University policy and Louisiana and New Orleans legal information and support,

Advice for Families of New Fraternity and Sorority Members

Parents and families play a significant role in supporting students who have recently joined fraternities and sororities. The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Programs (OFSP) compiled great tips to help parents navigate this new phase and support their students effectively, including:

  • Understand that being in a fraternity/sorority is a lifetime commitment
  • Attend Events
  • Respect Independence
  • Stay Informed About Finances
  • Promote Inclusivity
  • Address Concerns Responsibly

Read the detailed compilation. Remember that joining a fraternity or sorority can be a positive and enriching experience for many students. By staying informed, encouraging open communication, and supporting your student's involvement, you can play a constructive role in their Greek experience.
