2025 Marks Our 46th Anniversary

Of Rescuing America's Children From Prostitution

It would be remiss to

start this newsletter without

mentioning the devastation of the

fires in Los Angeles.

Our hearts and prayers go out to

Los Angeles Fire Victims.

The Los Angeles Police Department responded to the Palisades and Eaton Fires

erupting in early January.

LAPD Southeast Division

multi-tasked and served the needs of the community while assisting the Fire Departments with these life threatening fires.

Of particular note was Southeast Division’s

first of the year C-PAB

(Community Police Advisory Board Meeting).

Volunteer Coordinator, Officer Dawson Hill & Senior Lead Officer Tyson Hamaoka

reported while their unit was

heavily dispatched to the fires,

they continued to do everything possible

to ensure the Southeast Community

could still reach a police officer for help.

Deputy District Attorney Jonathan Hatami, member of the Nation’s first

Complex Child Abuse Unit in Los Angeles and Prosecutor for well-known Child Murder cases including

The State Department details the Five Misconceptions about Child Trafficking

The U.S. State Department

has done a complete

turn around and now

tells the truth about child trafficking

I Am So Pleased!

No one would be more shocked to hear me say this than them! LOL

Now all we have to do is point

Border Czar, Tom Homan,

in the right direction to swiftly find thousands of purported

missing children.

"Could kids solve the

labor shortage?

New York CNN —

A 14-year-old boy who cleaned meat cutting machines was “falling asleep in class and missing class as a result and suffering injuries from chemical burns” in Nebraska from 2021 to 2022, according to the Labor Department. Another 13-year-old suffered severe burns from cleaning agents." July 2023

  • "An Arkansas law, passed in March, eliminated age verification and governmental permission requirements for employers hiring minors.
  • A New Jersey law, passed last year, extended the number of hours a minor can work per week to 50.
  • In Iowa, a law enacted earlier this year permits children age 14 and older to use non-power-driven tools, and to work in kitchens and have “momentary work” in freezers and meat coolers.
  • A Washington state law, passed in April, permits 18-year-olds to work in certain 21-and-older establishments, such as bars." 2023

"In February of this year (2023), a cleaning company was fined $1.5 million for employing children ages 13 to 17 at meatpacking plants in eight states. The firm, Packers Sanitations Services Inc., was the target of a federal Department of Labor investigation that found 102 children working illegally, including 26 at the Cargill meatpacking plant at Dodge City." Case Managers Corner

We must not let Border Czar

Tom Homan and Goya CEO Robert Unanue

be seduced by

large government funded amateur

trafficking organizations

with large statistics but little or

no direct experiences providing the critical medical and therapeutic services for

traumatized trafficked children.

Mental Health Services are important but

first and foremost

these children need

full pediatric exams including

MRI's

Screening for Kidney Injuries

STD Screening

HIV Screening

Infections Disease Screening

and Pregnancy Tests for Girls

and the only competent organization

to provide effective treatment on a nationwide basis is

Children's Hospital

who can additionally identify licensed

practitioners for mental health..

While we know child sex trafficking is a small slice of the overall

child trafficking exploitation,

it is not uncommon for children

(both boys and girls)

who are labor trafficked to also been sexually exploited requiring extensive medical exams.

During the Los Angeles Fires and

Federal Elections, Children of the Night did not drop the ball in providing extensive services to our prostituted youth who have nowhere else

to turn for help.

Anna called the 24-hour case management line crying and barely understandable.

She was desperate for help to escape the nightmare of trafficking.

Her pimp had beaten her, and she pled to be taken to a hospital because

she was in so much pain due to

a black eye and bruises all over her body.

The next day Anna asked our Case Manager, Meliza, for help to leave Texas and start fresh in Mississippi where her 2-year-old son was living with her former foster parents.

Case manager Meliza worked quickly to get Anna a bus ticket to Mississippi. Since the trafficker stole Anna's identification to prevent her from leaving, the only transportation accessible was a bus.

Meliza, quick on her feet, found a domestic violence shelter in Mississippi before

Anna's bus arrived.

Anna spent the next three months at the shelter, finding stability and support.

During this time Meliza did not stop fighting for Anna. She helped her land a job and

Anna started saving enough money to finally move into her own apartment.

Anna was excited to finally have a place to call home. Children of the Night surprised Anna with furniture for her new apartment as a

Christmas gift.

With a steady job and a place to live, Anna’s life was slowly turning around including reunification and custody of her son.

Meliza helped Anna renew her food stamps, medical aid, and welfare benefits so she could get the what she needs for her & her son.

She also helped Anna enroll in Community College (Summer semester 2025), where Anna hopes to study cosmetology. Children of the Night will help Anna with school supplies and books to make sure she has everything she needs to succeed.

Anna’s journey has been hard, but with Children of the Night's constant support, she is rebuilding her life, and it is only just beginning.

At Children of the Night,

we stay with our children all the way...

from life with a pimp on the streets

to the boardroom!

Jade called the case management 24 hour hotline, and her voice trembled with fear.

She was overwhelmed.

Our case manager, Samari immediately

shifted into a calm, reassuring tone and said, “Don’t worry we are here for you.” and

“Let’s take this step by step.”

Jade's pimp kept her exhausted, but she was able to escape and call our

24-hour case management hotline.

She was physically, psychologically, and emotionally abused and brutally trafficked on the streets of Southern California.

She thought she had no way out of her situation, but Samari was persistent and focused to assure Jade received the help she needed.

Jade was successfully placed in a safe and supportive program for 90 days.

When these youth escape a pimp, they escape with nothing but the clothes on their back.

Without family or friends, she had no one.

Samari assisted Jade with clothing and essential hygiene to help her transition

from the streets.

Once she completes her 90-day program,

Jade wants to be independent.

Samari continues working with Jade,

helping her secure permanent housing and assisting with her job search, including building her resume and preparing her for

employment opportunities.

Jade is enrolling in our free online ZOOM GED tutoring program with one of our skilled tutors so she may advance her opportunities

for better employment.

Our case managers do not wait for the next crisis to provide more long-term help.

They work tirelessly staying three steps ahead of the client so they can provide timely resources for the next critical step to permanently recover from

victimization by a pimp.

Many of our clients are with us for years and

we often help them with their own children because 46 years of experience has taught us that prostitution is generational.

Sherry was in foster care when she was recruited by a pimp and forced to prostitute.

A few years later she married a man thinking he would take care of her,

but soon discovered he was a pimp.

The abuse had accelerated to where she thought he would kill her next time.

She had no friends or family - nowhere to go when she called

Children of the Night's 24-hour

case management hotline.

Sherry did not want to go back to foster care, but her status as a foster child

made her eligible for extended housing

until she is 21 years old.

Case Manager, Ciana, identified housing and provided an Uber to transport Sherry

to the housing program.

Children of the Night provided Sherry with hygiene, clothes and schools supplies

as a beginning.

Since Sherry only completed 9th grade,

our case manager, Cianna, encouraged Sherry to enroll in our free ZOOM tutoring program with one of our trained tutors so she could obtain a high school diploma.

Sherry wrote to Ciana:

"I just want to thank you so much.

Honestly, I really felt like I was in a

very toxic and vulnerable situation,

and you really helped me out.

So, I just thank you

from the bottom of my heart" .
