Weekly Headlines and Highlights from Ginghamsburg Church

Loving Jesus and doing something about it.

Change of Plans!

An update from the Ginghamsburg Communicztion Team

Hey there!

With the threat of some potentially gross weather on the horizon for Sunday, we've made the decision to cancel the Harvest Party scheduled for Sunday evening. The amount of rain we're expecting will likely leave the grounds unsuitable for use. We're bummed, because we were really looking forward to seeing all of you and spending a nice evening getting to know you by the campfire.

Fear not though! If you're like us and want to meet our neighbors or hang out with some familiar faces, we have multiple events coming up that will give you a chance to have some meaningful hang time with others. Check out the details below...

  • Versiti Blood Drive // Saturday, October 10, 7:30am-1:30pm, Avenue
From cancer treatment to surgery to serious injury, your donation provides help that lasts a lifetime. Appointments are highly recommended, but walk-ins are welcome. Sign up
here. Learn more about donating by visiting Versiti's website.

  • Parent Night at YG // Wednesday, October 14, 6:05-8pm, Avenue
Student Ministry Parents! Enjoy a night of YG-style fun, chaos and community! While students are in their small groups, spend some time with Kelsey. You'll get the chance to get to know Kelsey and the other parents, and share what you'd like your student to get out of Student Ministry.

  • Dinner & Line Dancing // Thursday, October 15, 6:30-8pm, Avenue

Meet up with Women’s Ministry for a night of food, fun and dancing! Snacks and drinks will be provided, and dinner from Bowman & Landes is also available to order (in advance only). Register today and be entered for a door prize! The last day to order dinner is TUESDAY, October 13.

  • S'mores & Storytime // Friday, October 16, 6-7:30pm, Tipp City Lawn Bring your little ones (grade K-2) out for a night of stories, s'mores and more campfire fun.

We love hanging out with our Ginghamsburg family. So much so, we ordered 300 hot dogs, only to be shut down by the remnants of a hurricane. What's the point, you might ask? Because we firmly believe we were made for community. Offering all of these opportunities is one of the many ways we try to make space for spending time with Jesus (Matthew 18:20). Visit ginghamsburg.org/grouplife and check out all the ways you can get to know our community.

See you in worship!

New message series starts October 18 – Next week, we're launching 5×5: Five Foundations. Five Weeks. A Blueprint for a Great Church. We'll revisit the five commitments we make as members of the United Methodist Church: Prayers, Presence, Gifts, Service and Witness. These aren't just boxes to check. They're the everyday practices that shape us into disciples of Jesus and strengthen the church's ability to make a difference in the world. Bring your questions. And bring a friend!

Pastor Sue served as Ginghamsburg’s Executive Pastor from 2000 to 2010. Whether it was through her book "Ultimately Responsible," or helping us discover our spiritual gifts through her class Ministry By Strengths, she was instrumental in developing our church’s culture of serving. At one point, she even lead our Broken Chains motorcycle ministry.

Since then, Sue has helped churches across the country explore what can happen when prayer becomes central to their life together. Stuck churches have found breakthrough because of Pastor Sue’s unique calling to refocus congregational development on the power of the Holy Spirit through prayer.
