July 2024

Dear Readers,

We have a great line up this month with articles on organizations and museums from Palm Springs, California and Cody, Wyoming to Buffalo, New York. Very positive news is in from the American for the Arts Action Fund on the amount of investment and return (jobs, community resources, improving services) that is being generated by the arts in the U.S. today. Please see the introduction to their report on our website!

Paul Clemence brings us to Palm Springs and writes, "way before the arrival of the Rat Pack crowd and their dry martini cocktail fueled lifestyle, Palm Springs was the home of the Cahuilla people. With the opening last year of the Agua Caliente Cultural Museum in the heart of the city, that important Native American legacy will be both preserved and celebrated."

Linda Cabasin takes us to Buffalo where she presents one of America's cultural gems, the Buffalo AKG Art Museum (formerly named the Albright-Knox Art Gallery). Linda showcases the Buffalo AKG Art Museum's major transformation that added gallery space and enhanced the museum’s campus to better welcome and serve a diverse community.

Marybeth Bond brings us to Cody, Wyoming where, amidst stagecoaches and rodeos, she presents the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, a complex of five Smithsonian-affiliated museums and a research library, that offer an immersive experience in Western art and history.

Thank you for reading and please do share our website and newsletter with friends, family and colleagues who may be interested. We are active on Instagram and FaceBook. www.sideofculture.com

Now, with the opening last year of the Agua Caliente Cultural Museum in the heart of the city, that important Native American legacy will be both preserved and celebrated! Read on
