Self-Evident

The world premiere of

Christopher Cerrone’s Of Being Numerous

w/ Present Music

and Caroline Shaw's Ochre

November 21 & 23

Of being numerous.

We love the poet.

We love the composer.

We’re excited about a new collaboration with new friends from Milwaukee.

And we love the poem so much, we named our season for it.

   Obsessed, bewildered

By the shipwreck

Of the singular

We have chosen the meaning

Of being numerous.

       — George Oppen

Chris Cerrone's star has risen, and he is currently one of the most sought-after compositional voices in music. In fact, he was just nominated for three Grammys! We’ve waited for an opportunity to collaborate with him, and we’re grateful to Present Music in Milwaukee for commissioning this work from Chris and helping to make this whole thing happen.

Join us for this not-to-be-missed event: the world premiere of Chris' Of being numerous, in Chestnut Hill and Milwaukee, with our reprise of Caroline Shaw‘s Ochre, which won the 2024 Grammy Award for Best Choral Performance.

Check out the energy and innovation of Present Music with this introduction: Raven Chacon's Voiceless Mass, commissioned and performed by Present Music, which earned the composer a Pulitzer Prize in 2022:
