Narrator Spotlight: Robb Moreira

Narrator Robb Moreira

Narrating THE GREAT COOL RANCH DORITO IN THE SKY, a Finalist for the 2024 National Book Award for Young People’s Literature, Robb Moreira gives an appealing and empathetic performance that anchors listeners in Tucson teenager Brett’s point of view. Brett is creative and funny and has a great vocabulary, thanks to his adoptive mother, Evelyn—and his life is spinning out of his control. Brett tries to escape his grief by making and distributing new issues of his Kid Condor comic book, watching THE KARATE KID, lying on his trampoline and looking up at the constellations, and, increasingly, drinking alcohol and binge eating. Moreira doesn’t flinch from the most painful parts of Brett’s story, and his delivery of Brett’s darkest moments is balanced by warm characterizations of the people who care about him and want to help him.

Robb Moreira told us, “Brett is a character that I will hold in my heart for a long time, and it was an absolute pleasure to bring this audiobook to life. Josh Galarza has written such an incredible and important story. I believe that everyone, of all ages, should give it a listen.”

We Shall Be Monsters

WE SHALL BE MONSTERS

Deepti Gupta’s narration lends authenticity to this young adult tale of Indian mythology and resurrection. Kajal, who is able to resurrect people, is trying to raise her sister, Lasya, before she becomes a permanent murderous spirit. But Kajal is captured by rebels and forced to resurrect the Crown Prince in order to restore rightful order to the blighted kingdom. Listeners will be pulled in by the story and stay for the storytelling finesse.

Huda F Are You

HUDA F ARE YOU?

This lively audio adaptation of Huda Fahmy’s hilarious graphic novel will delight listeners. Huda’s having a crisis. Her family’s just moved from a small town to Dearborn, Michigan, and suddenly her identity can no longer be “the hijabi girl” because she’s not the only one anymore. Fahmy’s wry narration captures the humor and the many ups and downs of her freshman year in a new school. A full cast of narrators, along with music and sound effects, helps tell Huda’s story. And don’t miss the sequel, HUDA F CARES?

Riot Act

RIOT ACT

This audiobook bleeds urgency. Art equals resistance in this dystopia set in 1991 America and voiced by Lee Osorio. Narrating from the grave, 18-year-old drama geek Max recounts the events leading up to his murder and those that follow. Osorio’s rough-edged baritone modulates from pitch-perfect teen snark to deep regret as Max describes life under the huckster turned dictator whose purge of all anti-American thought spurs the high school thespians of Champaign, Illinois, to stage an underground production of—what else?—Shakespeare’s HENRY VI.

One Killer Problem

ONE KILLER PROBLEM

This thrilling performance by Katherine Littrell will captivate a wide audience. Junior high schooler Gigi is engrossed in her friend group and her crush on classmate Mari until she finds one of her teachers, Mr. Ford, murdered in a classroom. When Gigi and her friends team up to identify the murderer, she uncovers odd mysteries surrounding Mr. Ford. Littrell offers a dynamic narration of an equally dynamic story.
