MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT - STACEY HICKS | | |
Our race season is in full swing, and we are having an absolute blast! Behind the scenes, our incredible volunteer leadership team has been working hard to create amazing race day experiences for our athletes and families. Their dedication continues to make each race something truly special.
| | | | | |
What an experience it was to run on an actual airport runway while planes landed and took off on an adjacent runway! It was a race unlike any other and a memory we won't soon forget.
We also continue to welcome new rider athletes and families to Team Hoyt Denver. Watching our community grow is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do. It is a testament to the need we are meeting in our community, and we are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to bring the joy of racing to more athletes.
| | If you haven't had a chance to join us yet, we'd love to meet you! Please get in touch with us at info@teamhoytdenver.com | |
RIDER ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT
SARAH HOLT
| | | | |
Sarah Holt has participated in countless races with Team Hoyt Denver and has become such an important part of our community. In fact, Sarah logged more miles than any other rider athlete on our team in 2025!
This year, Sarah stepped into a new role as our Athlete Ambassador, and she is already doing an amazing job being a voice for our athletes and helping represent their experiences in everything we do.
| | |
Recently, Sarah joined Stacey for a presentation to Deckers Brands, the company behind brands including HOKA, Teva and UGG. Sarah shared her experience with Team Hoyt Denver and gave a powerful testimonial about what our team and the joy of racing mean to her. Sarah is also never one to shy away from a challenge. She recently challenged her teammates Mark, Dan and Stacey to push her in the Boulderthon Marathon. They accepted, and on September 27, they will take on the marathon together!
This race will mark a major milestone for Team Hoyt Denver: the first time a Team Hoyt Denver team will complete a marathon.
We can't wait to cheer them on!

RUNNER SPOTLIGHT
ADAM HURST
| | | | |
Adam Hurst is the definition of a dream volunteer runner.
Whenever Adam is available for a race, his response is always the same: "Let me know where I can help." And he means it. Adam runs. He volunteers. He cheers. He fundraises. Wherever he is needed, Adam jumps in and helps make race day better for everyone around him.
| | |
This year, Adam went above and beyond with an incredible Super Bowl fundraiser benefiting Team Hoyt Denver, bringing in thousands of dollars to support our mission and our athletes.
Adam, we are so lucky to have you on our team. Thank you for showing up, stepping in, and giving so much of yourself to help make inclusion in motion possible!

MISSION MOMENT
SARAH & HARPER KELLEY
| | |
Sarah and Harper Kelley have been part of Team Hoyt Denver from the very beginning. Together, they show Denver what speed, teamwork and inclusion look like, and they are one of the fastest duos you'll find on the course!
This year, Sarah and Harper were given a racing chair from Team Hoyt Denver, allowing them to train together outside of race days as they work toward some BIG goals.
In October, the duo will take on the Chicago Marathon, one of their steps toward an incredible goal: completing all six of the World Marathon Majors together.
Sarah and Harper embody everything we strive to be at Team Hoyt Denver. They remind us that inclusion isn't just about crossing a finish line. It's about creating opportunities, setting big goals, supporting one another and believing that every athlete deserves the chance to experience the joy of racing.
They are a perfect example of our mission in motion.

EVENT HIGHLIGHT
COLFAX MARATHON
| | |
We were back at the Colfax Marathon race weekend this year, and it was epic!
Team Hoyt Denver had 11 duos participate in the 5K and five duos take on the half marathon. Seven additional runners also joined us for the weekend, bringing our total representation to more than 60 athletes, runners, volunteers and supporters.
Together, we filled the course with Team Hoyt Denver energy and showed Denver what inclusion looks like when a community comes together.
We are incredibly grateful to Lonnie Sommers with HAL Sports and Andrea Dowdy with the Colfax Marathon for everything they do to make racing accessible and welcoming for our team.
From dedicated accessible porta potties to reserved parking, their support helps remove barriers and makes it easier for our athletes and families to participate in one of the largest race weekends in the Denver metro area.
Thank you for helping us bring inclusion in motion to the Colfax Marathon!

VOLUNTEER OF THE QUARTER
ANTHONY GALLEGOS
| | | | |
Anthony Gallegos is, without question, our Volunteer of the Quarter!
Anthony is a behind-the-scenes kind of guy, but he shows up whenever and wherever we need him. Over the past few months, he has been especially busy in his role as our Equipment Manager as we welcomed something very exciting to Team Hoyt Denver thanks to a very generous anonymous donor : our brand-new cargo trailer!
| | Anthony was instrumental in making it happen from start to finish. He helped ensure the trailer order included everything we needed, managed the interior build out, worked with the company on the wrap, secured a place for us to store it and so much more. | | Anthony with his grandson Jaxson | | |
And now, Anthony is also the primary driver of what we affectionately call "Big Red," towing our cargo trailer to races and helping us get the equipment we need to the starting line.
Anthony, we absolutely couldn't do what we do without you. Thank you for all the time, energy and behind-the-scenes work you put into making Team Hoyt Denver possible!

COMMUNITY CHAMPION OF INCLUSION
DWAYNE BERGERON - BIKE SOURCE
| | | | |
From the very first day Stacey walked into Bike Source in University Hills with a question—could they help assemble Team Hoyt Denver's very first racing wheelchair—the answer from Dwayne Bergeron was always yes.
Since then, Dwayne and Bike Source have played an incredible role in helping our athletes get to the starting line.
Dwayne receives our new racing chairs, assembles them, maintains them and keeps them race ready all at no cost to Team Hoyt Denver.
| | |
And when a chair needs maintenance or repairs, Dwayne goes above and beyond, often spending his own time after hours to make sure our athletes can get back out on the course.
His work may happen behind the scenes, but its impact is felt every time one of our athletes rolls across a starting line.
Dwayne and the entire Bike Source team, you are true Champions of Inclusion. Thank you for helping keep our racing wheelchairs in tip top shape and for making sure our athletes can continue experiencing the joy of racing.
Team Hoyt Denver offers you our biggest thank you!
