Statewide Event Update

We've gone virtual this year! Dr. Kelly Posner, the creator of the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale, will be presenting virtually, and participants will be able to submit questions. We are working with a magician and hope to have a magic show virtually. TSPN Regional Award winners will be announced and recognized, and we will also be dedicating the 17th Suicide Memorial Quilt.

Be on the lookout for the link to register very soon. We hope you can join us!
Regional Events Update

Events are being planned in each region of the state for September! Be sure to reach out to your Regional Director to get involved with your region's September event. Check out the events listed below & our Eventbrite page to find your region's event!
In honor of our 20th Anniversary of raising awareness and providing Suicide Prevention education reaching 64,217,740 Tennesseans in 2019, we are launching our $20 for 20 years campaign. Consider giving $1 for each year TSPN has existed. Our goal is to reach more people with education and resources in 2020-2021, with the ultimate goal of saving lives so that no one else has to experience the loss of a friend or loved one
to the most preventable cause of death: suicide.

Here are ways you can help us celebrate:

1) Post a picture of you wearing purple and/or teal to share with your friends why Suicide Prevention is important to you. Let your friends know you donated $20 for 20 Years with TSPN and challenge five friends to do the same. Use the hashtag #tspnvisionofhope2020

2) Arrange a suicide prevention training in your community to begin to help us reach our goal of reaching more people! Contact your Regional Director to get this training scheduled. Yes, we can provide virtual trainings!

3) Donate! You can donate via PayPal or check.

PayPal: Visit our website, click the yellow donate button, and sign into your PayPal account. If your donation is in memory or honor of someone- enter their name and "TSPN 20th Anniversary" and click Donate.

Donate by Check: Make out a check to TAADAS-TSPN, entering “TSPN 20th Anniversary” in the subject line. Mail the check to TSPN at 1321 Murfreesboro Pike #155, Nashville, TN 37217.

988 as the New Suicide Prevention Number

The Federal Communications Commission adopted rules to establish 988 as the new, nationwide, 3-digit phone number for Americans in crisis to connect with suicide prevention and mental health crisis counselors. The rules require all phone service providers to direct all 988 calls to the existing National Suicide Prevention Lifeline by July 16, 2022. During the transition to 988, Americans who need help should continue to contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline by calling 1-800-273-8255 (1-800- 273-TALK) and through online chats. Veterans and Service members may reach the Veterans Crisis Line by pressing 1 after dialing, chatting online at www.veteranscrisisline.net, or texting 838255. The FCC press release can be viewed here.
