Bal-A-Vis-X: Neurodevelopment, Executive Function & Rhythmic Integration

What can happen when balance, listening, vision, rhythm, and movement begin working together?

This fall, the Lucy School Teacher Training Center welcomes MaryAnn Short for an immersive two-day Bal-A-Vis-X workshop. Bal-A-Vis-X—Balance, Auditory, Vision eXercises—uses balls, sandbags, rhythm, and carefully patterned movement to support coordination, attention, executive function, self-regulation, and brain-body integration.

This is active, experiential learning—not a workshop spent sitting and listening. Participants will practice the exercises themselves, work with partners and groups, and begin exploring applications across educational, therapeutic, recreational, and personal settings.

The workshop is designed for:

  • Early-childhood, classroom, and special educators
  • Occupational, physical, and speech-language therapists
  • Counselors and school administrators
  • Geriatric and recreational therapists
  • Parents and caregivers
  • Anyone who wants to strengthen brain-body integration and have fun while doing it

No prior experience is necessary. Bal-A-Vis-X can be used across the lifespan, from preschool through older adulthood.
