Capital campaign pledges due now

EVERY GIFT MAKES A DIFFERENCE!

Based on a Feasibility Study and parish meeting (click to view presentation), the Vestry authorized a Capital Campaign for the construction of an addition to the Narthex that would relocate the stairs and install a lift to provide access between floors.

Here is an illustrative picture of a lift that would be installed to allow handicapped access between the floors of the church.
Project Plan:

  • REMOVE & COVER OVER THE CURRENT STAIRWAY
  • INSTALL A NEW U-SHAPED INTERIOR STAIRWAY IN THE EXPANDED NARTHEX WITH 2 LANDINGS & ADA-COMPLIANT STEPS
  • ADD A COMMERCIAL-GRADE LIFT FOR ACCESS BETWEEN FLOORS
  • ADD AN OUTDOOR ADA-COMPLIANT WALKWAY FROM THE PARKING LOT TO A NEW LOWER-LEVEL ENTRY ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE EXPANSION

Pledges received to-date total $196,660

The projected total cost of the project is $270,000. The Vestry is prepared to commit up to $50,000 in parish savings to the project. The cost may be lower if we delay or remove some parts of the project or if material/construction costs come down from recent highs.

Based on commitments received, the Vestry will make a determination whether to move forward with construction. If pledges are insufficient to fund the addition, the Vestry will abandon the project.

Additional Information about the project can be found on our website, including the ability to make a pledge on-line.

First Friday tonight at 7:00 pm
IT'S BINGO FROM 7:00 to 9:00 PM

Bring a snack to share and beverages will be provided.

Invite friends and family to enjoy the evening together!
We ARE DOING this!
FROM FATHER DAVID

As I wrote to you last week, the Vestry hopes to report we will have sufficient commitments from parishioners for the narthex capital campaign to allow us to move forward with the project. As your pastor, I am very optimistic that we can reach the goals we have set for ourselves and this parish to complete something that has been planned since the last capital campaign, roughly ten years ago. There is no better time than now to make this commitment. The pledge total is now up to $196,660.

We are people of faith, and my optimism goes well into the spiritual reality that the Holy Spirit is alive and moving within us every day. I was blown away when we asked for commitments to replace the church organ and we accomplished that project in record time. We will continue to benefit from that project for many years to come.

This current project is very important to all who participate in our church functions. We must be a safe and welcoming place for all who call Resurrection their church, and also for our visitors, who deserve a safe and easy way to get into our church building and move from floor to floor.

I am so thankful to all of you who are discerning and planning to participate. I pray daily for the Spirit’s work to help make this campaign a reality. Please join me in my daily prayers.

Look for the visual barometer in the narthex to show the progress on our goal to reach at least two hundred thousand dollars in pledges. We are more than halfway there. WE CAN DO THIS!
We ARE DOING This!

Blessings and prayers, Fr. David+

SAFETY PREVAILS

Welcome back to in-person worship. Safety prevails with considerations for wearing masks, using hand sanitizer and washing hands. We encourage everyone get a vaccination and ask you take appropriate precautions if you are not.

With the rise of the Delta Variant we request everyone wear a mask.

Attendance pages are on the table in the narthex. Please check-off your names on the attendance spreadsheet since we are still following pandemic guidelines. it is important we have accurate documentation should an exposure be identified.

Communion will be served in the traditional manner with bread from the priest and wine from the chalice for those who desire to do so. The “hour-glass” packet of bread and wine will still be readily available for any one still not ready for the common cup. To indicate how you would like to receive communion please use your hands in the following manner:

• Palms up to receive bread as in the traditional manner
• Palms down to receive “gluten free” bread
• With your fingers chose the “hour glass” with bread and wine
• Cross your chest with your arms to receive a blessing only

Receiving communion of ONE kind (bread or wine) represents FULL communion in the Episcopal tradition. Intinction (dipping the wafer in the chalice) is NOT preferred as it raises concerns for cross-contamination.
