Every October, Prince George’s County and the Prince George’s County Workforce Development Board recognize National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) to celebrate the talent, skills, and contributions of workers with disabilities and reinforce the importance of workplaces where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
At EPG, inclusion is more than a monthly observance. It is part of the work we do year-round. We help job seekers discover career pathways, strengthen their skills, prepare for employment, and connect with opportunities that support meaningful careers and long-term success.
Through partnerships with employers, we also work to expand access to opportunity and strengthen inclusive hiring practices that recognize the value of a diverse workforce.
When talent is recognized, barriers are removed, and opportunity is accessible, our entire workforce becomes stronger. Together, we are building a County where people of all abilities have the opportunity to contribute, grow, and thrive.

| | | | 3 Ways To Make Yourself More Hireable In A Slow Job Market | If you’re unemployed today, finding a new opportunity can feel like a numbers game with really bad odds. Not only are employers hiring at a slow pace, but employees are holding onto their positions longer, creating fewer opportunities and more competition for the roles that are available. As a result, the percentage of people who have been unemployed for 27 weeks or more has increased to 25% from 23% this time last year, according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. | | | | |

| | Workforce News & Highlights | | Shaping Talent for a Stronger Pipeline: SHRM’s E² Initiative During UN General Assembly High-Level Week | Workforce policy is moving fast, and HR professionals can't afford to watch from the sidelines. Across the U.S. and around the world, employers, policymakers, and education and workforce leaders are grappling with many of the same questions: How do we close persistent skills gaps? How do we prepare workers for jobs that keep changing? And who is responsible for building stronger pathways between education and employment? | | As AI Changes Work, Employers Must Rethink How Careers Begin | |
As Workforce Development Month comes to a close, the challenge remains: How do we prepare people for jobs that are changing in real time while continuing to build the talent businesses need?
For decades, early-career employees built skills by performing foundational tasks, learning from colleagues and taking on greater responsibility over time. As AI changes how some of that work gets done, companies need to be even more intentional about creating opportunities for employees to gain experience, demonstrate their abilities and continue developing professionally.
