Hot Weather Expected Through the Weekend
According to the National Weather Service, the summer season is expected to be hot, beginning this weekend with heat advisories in effect for parts of the Bay Area. Hot weather increases the risk of heat-related health complications. Practice hot weather safety by staying hydrated, wearing light, loose-fitting clothing, and avoiding sun exposure. Palo Alto Libraries serve as cooling centers during regular business hours, and additional Santa Clara County Facilities are also available. Find a full list of local cooling centers as well as hot weather safety tips here. For the latest forecast from the National Weather Service, visit www.weather.gov/mtr.

Traffic & Fireworks Expected on Saturday Night for Soccer Match at Stanford Stadium
On Saturday, July 1, a sellout crowd of 50,000 will attending the MLS soccer match at Stanford Stadium. Expect heavy traffic on Embarcadero Road, El Camino Real, and Sand Hill Road beginning mid-afternoon. Please note that as in years past at this same event, there will be a fireworks show at the end of the game, likely around 9:30 p.m. Please do not call 9-1-1 to report the fireworks; these calls tie up phone lines and can negatively impact our ability to answer actual emergency and priority calls. As a reminder, fireworks are illegal in Palo Alto and the community is encouraged to celebrate 4th of July safely. Attend the Summer Festival and Chili Cook-Off at Mitchell Park or view professional fireworks in surrounding cities such as Redwood City, San Francisco or San Jose. For safety tips and ways to report fireworks, visit www.cityofpaloalto.org/Fireworks.
