Continuing on with my reviews of kid-safe phones and devices, this week is Gabb!

Gabb comes with three levels of devices for your family. A watch, a phone rated for ages 9-14 and a higher level phone rated for ages 13-18. They are all Samsung phones which allow them to deeply embed their safety features directly into the hardware. This makes them impossible to crack and gives parents a sense of security they can trust. The Gabb phone comes with preset apps that you can choose to allow for your kids. Gabb is unique in that it also has certain apps specific for their devices: Messenger, Music, Guard, Maps, and Cloud for backups. It also allows you to pick Christian based apps they provide to allow your child to study and root themselves in prayer. This gives your child freedom to choose what they do with their device without having to worry about work-arounds or ‘add more time’ options. A very easy first device for families that may not be comfortable with installing parental controls on their devices. Gabb is right up there with Bark and Troomi in terms of safety, ease of use, and price range.

Check out their website: www.gabb.com

Pros:

Three different levels for you to choose from: a watch, a beginner phone, or a more advanced phone all with the same parental control options and easy to monitor. Comes with its own brand apps for safe music streaming, sharing, and chatting with friends.

Cons:

Gabb requires that anyone who wants to chat or share with a Gabb user must do it through their specific apps so parents and friends would have to download their Gabb Messenger app in order to do this. Gabb cannot be added to your current provider, you will be using their coverage and plans in order to use their devices. Check for coverage in your area (although according to their website, they cover the entire US).

TALENT SHOW Dec. 5, 2025

We are looking for performers for our 2025 Talent Show on December 5 at 1:15. If you have an act you would like to perform for the school, please click the link below for the informational sign up form. Please contact Mrs. Garner if you have any questions.  Talent Show Form

In this weekend's Gospel, we will hear the parable of the persistent widow—a powerful example of our Catholic Stewardship Renewal theme from Romans 5:5: “Hope does not disappoint.” The widow’s perseverance reflects the kind of hope-filled faith Jesus calls us to—a deep trust that God listens, cares, and responds. Unlike the reluctant judge, God answers with a Father’s love. This parable reminds us to pray with persistence and hope, knowing that our hope is never in vain—because God never disappoints.

Through God's grace, we are each given unique gifts, and we are called to share them in love of God and neighbor. By prayerfully discerning how we use these gifts, we can become more intentional in serving our parish and community.

Each year at Easter, we renew our baptismal promises—rejecting sin and affirming our faith—as a sign of our renewed life in Christ. Similarly, the annual Catholic Stewardship Renewal is a chance to reaffirm our commitment to our parish and its mission. It is a concrete way to show that we belong to our parish family and support its ministries.

This year’s ministry guide will be sent home with the youngest student of each St. Peter parish family on Friday.

Please review the many hospitality, prayer, formation, and service opportunities within our parish and prayerfully consider how you can best contribute your time, talents, and treasure. Directions for completion are found in the materials. Please complete and return your commitment by the weekend of December 6th.

After Care News

Aftercare (for K-8) will not be hosting a Halloween party this year. We will have a

coloring contest and other activities, but we want to have a Mardi Gras party in February, and this will give us more time to plan that.

Also, just a reminder that those picking up students from Aftercare need to stay out of

the play areas. There are safety concerns when people come into the cafeteria during

snack time or when we have recess inside. It is a very chaotic time for us, and I

understand you want to get your kids and go, but please wait outside the cafeteria doors or in the hallway. Thank you!

You may reach me, Betsy Bartow, at bbartow@stpeterjc.org or (573) 636-8922 ext.129.
