Healthy Community Grant Highlight: Children's Cancer Safety Net

Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas will bring programming to Lancaster and Chester to provide resources, community, and loving compassion to children with cancer to age 21 and their families. Last year, they served over 2,500 children across South Carolina and North Carolina.

Cancer is the #1 disease killer of children in the U.S., devastating entire families. Rural or low-income children face up to 3 times higher risk of late or missed diagnosis, relapse or even death. Our partnership will assist efforts to develop the Children’s Cancer Safety Net locally, which provides patient/family navigation support, treatment related expenses (travel, lodging, meals), and emergency funds. Currently, 34 children in Lancaster County, Fort Lawn and Great Falls are receiving assistance. This number is projected to grow.

MUSC 2026 Community Health Needs Assessment

Arras is happy to support the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) with their 2026 Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA). A CHNA process is used by organizations, particularly non-profit hospitals, to evaluate the health needs of the communities they serve. MUSC is conducting a survey in eleven of the counties that they serve - including Lancaster and Chester - and will use the findings from this survey to improve their programs and services in these communities.

The survey takes roughly ten minutes to complete and the feedback that you share about your health, and the health of your family and community will be incredibly helpful. Please take the survey today by clicking on one of the links below:
