Important Update:
Brown University Health physicians to leave UnitedHealthcare's Medicare Advantage network

Dear Friends,

As of July 1, 2026, many Brown University Health physicians and affiliated medical practices will no longer be participating with UnitedHealthcare’s RI Medicare Advantage network due to an ongoing contract dispute.

This follows a similar dispute in 2025, when Brown University Health hospitals and UnitedHealthcare were unable to reach a new agreement, resulting in certain Brown-affiliated hospitals becoming out of network for many UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage members.

If you are currently enrolled in a UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage plan—or are considering one—it is important to confirm whether your doctors, specialists, and preferred healthcare facilities are in-network.
