Summer has arrived, bringing with it a vibrant season of outdoor activities. Whether you’re hitting the roads, exploring our beautiful trails, or relaxing in our parks, please stay safe and look out for one another—especially pedestrians and cyclists out enjoying the warmer weather. Concord Township is a community that thrives when we care for each other.
Trustees Advocate for Our Community
Our Concord Township Trustees have been hard at work, representing our community on both local and national stages. Trustee Amy Lucci recently traveled to Washington, DC, to represent the Ohio Township Association (OTA) and Concord Township at the National Association of Towns and Townships (NATaT) meeting. There, she engaged with legislators to discuss policies that directly impact townships like ours, advocating for resources and support to enhance our community’s well-being. Trustee Lucci commented, “I was very appreciative of the Congressman Max Miller’s support of safety services and the opportunity to discuss legislative priorities to keep [Concord Township] running smoothly.”
Trustees Carl Dondorfer and Morgan McIntosh, along with Fiscal Officer John Patriarca, are also gearing up for the regional fly-in to Washington, DC, to continue these important conversations. Trustee Dondorfer stated, “The DC fly-in event is a great opportunity to network and hold discussions with our elected officials and their staff regarding policy and budget issues that directly affect our Township.” Their efforts ensure Concord’s voice is heard, securing opportunities for growth, safety, and economic development.
Economic Growth on the Horizon
Exciting developments are underway in Concord Township! We’re thrilled to share that we’ve been working with a manufacturing company planning to construct a new facility and relocate to our township. This project, part of our ongoing efforts through the Concord-Painesville Joint Economic Development District (JEDD), will bring new jobs and economic vitality to our community. By fostering partnerships with businesses like this, alongside existing companies like Avery Dennison, De Nora Tech, and Ranpak, we’re strengthening Concord’s position as a hub for innovation and opportunity.

The Construction season for the Service Department has begun. Residents will see our crew’s working throughout the Township performing concrete slab replacements on our concrete roadways, Dura- Patching and Crack Sealing on our asphalt roadways. In addition, the 2025 Road resurfacing projects are underway. The resurfacing of Karaboo trail, Daisey Hill Ct, Keystone Dr, East Hill Way, Ledge Lake Ct, and Little Mountain Rd. These roadways are slated to be completed by the end of June as weather permits. The Service Department also maintains many of the Township grounds and sports fields. At Concord Hills Park this summer, the Township intends to resurface the Tennis and Basketball Courts. Included in the project is the replacement of the tennis net posts and nets and adding portable nets and striping for pickle ball. Each Tennis Court will accommodate two pickle ball courts each. This will provide residents and additional 4 pickle ball courts in the Concord Township. The Courts have been closed due to unsafe conditions and the resurfacing of the courts along with new surface coating and striping of the courts for Tennis and Pickel Ball will add to the park’s amenities.
The Yard Waste at the Service Department closes on Monday June 2nd at 2:30pm. The drop off will reopen September 2nd from 7:30am -2:30pm. The annual Fall brush day collections will be Saturday’s October 4th & 18th from 7:30am – 2:30pm.

Concord Township Fire Department: May Highlights
The past month has been an active one for the Concord Township Fire Department, marked by community outreach, life-saving education, and meaningful traditions. From celebrating a respected leader’s retirement to teaching CPR and honoring our nation’s heroes, the department has remained deeply connected to the people it proudly serves.
Community CPR Training – May 5
The month began with a Community CPR Class, where local residents received hands-on training in CPR techniques—an essential skill that can make the difference between life and death in an emergency. The department remains committed to empowering our community with the tools and confidence to act in critical moments.
Honoring Lt. Wally Brainard – May 16
On May 16, Concord Fire gathered to recognize Lieutenant Wally Brainard on his last duty shift before retirement. Lt. Brainard began his fire service career with Concord Township as a part-time firefighter/paramedic on July 25, 1996, was hired full-time on August 22, 2000, and promoted to Lieutenant on January 11, 2004.
Throughout his career, Lt. Brainard has been a model of integrity, professionalism, and leadership. His unwavering commitment to public safety has left a lasting impact on both the department and the community. The Concord Township Fire Department extends its heartfelt appreciation to Lt. Brainard and wishes him and his wife, Samantha, all the best in this well-earned retirement.
Coast Guard Safety Day – May 17
On May 17, the Concord Fire Department participated in Coast Guard Safety Day at Station Fairport, joining fellow public safety partners in promoting emergency preparedness. Concord personnel offered attendees brief, hands-on demonstrations of hands-only CPR, fire extinguisher use, and Stop the Bleed techniques. Following the demonstrations, participants were encouraged to sign up for full training courses offered through the fire department. We were proud to support this important event and help empower our community with life-saving skills.
CPR & AED Training at American Legion – May 21
Continuing our dedication to life-saving education, Concord Fire provided CPR and AED training to members of the American Legion on May 21. Participants learned how to respond effectively to cardiac emergencies, reinforcing our shared mission to protect life and support one another.
Fire Safety Education at Hershey Montessori – May 23
On May 23, the department visited Hershey Montessori School to teach fire safety and preparedness to young students. These early education efforts help build lifelong safety habits and foster trust between children and emergency responders.
Mentorship Through Senior Projects
Throughout the month, Concord Fire hosted students from Mentor High School and Auburn Career Center as part of their Senior Projects. These students spent time in the firehouse, gaining firsthand exposure to the fire service profession, including emergency operations and station life. The experience gave them valuable insight into a rewarding and challenging career in public safety.
Memorial Day: Remembering Those Who Served – May 26
The month concluded with a solemn and respectful presence at the Memorial Day Ceremony on May 26, held at the Concord Township Cemetery. Firefighters stood in uniform alongside fellow first responders, veterans, and residents to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in military service.
Fire personnel participated in the ceremony with deep reverence, taking time to reflect on the true meaning of the holiday. The event served as a reminder of the strong connection between public service and military sacrifice.
Memorial Day is more than just a tradition for us, it’s a duty and an honor. Several member of Concord Fire have served in the military or have family who have. We come together as a department and as a community to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
