Presenting New Works by

Lanta Meng, Rodrigo Sarrat-Cave & Iris Mes Low
Lanta Meng is a local painter who shares her home studio with her photographer husband Rodrigo Sarrat-Cave. Growing up in Taiwan, Meng received an education in traditional oriental art while her contemporary art training took place at Emily Carr in Vancouver upon arriving in British Columbia. Meng’s flowing Carr-esque landscapes are imbued with a sense of memory informed by her rich cultural identity.

Rodrigo Sarrat-Cave,began his photographic career in the darkroom of the Photographic Society at the University of British Columbia. The analog chemical process provided ample opportunities for experimentation, as well as cementing the foundations of photography. The shift from analog to digital image-making inspired Sarrat-Cave to begin exploring the idea of fragmenting the real world with the camera and reconstructing it with digital tools.

Iris Mes Low's art is a fluid and ever-changing exchange between the canvas and images of her subconscious. Her approach to landscape is one of tightening forms and accentuating the intensity of the environment — creating idealistic, utopic abstractions of the scene. Her trees take on human-like characteristics as they congregate against dawning skies and urban hubs of suburbia. Her style is achieved through various layers of thinly applied oil paint . Each layer shimmers through, forming her signature style.
