Pro Tips for Building Your TE School List

We asked the experts -- enrollment leaders at Tuition Exchange schools -- to share their best advice for TE eligible students seeking scholarships. Check it out!

Pro Tips for Building Your TE School List

1.  Start Early

The sooner you begin researching schools, the better. Review the list of TE member institutions. Do a few informal campus visits to see what feels right in terms of size and location. Think about possible fields of study and career paths. Ideally the schools on your list will give you a range of academic options.

2.  Do Your Homework

Use the TE School Search to find schools with your desired major, location, size and other factors. Visit school websites to learn about campus culture, academic programs, and student life. Check out the TE Scholarship Profile pages to see how they structure their TE awards. The goal is to find schools that you think would be a good academic fit and a good financial fit.

3.  Hedge Your Bets

TE scholarships are competitive. Ask the TELO -- or an admissions counselor --about your chances for getting a TE award based on your academic record. The TE Scholarship Profile includes award data from prior years which may help you assess level of selectivity and the odds of being selected for an award.

4.  Cast a Wide Net

Want to improve your chances of getting a TE scholarship? Take advantage of the 20 slots available to you on the TE EZ-Application. Applying to a wide range of schools can help as well. Choosing schools that vary by size, selectivity, and geographic location will increase your likelihood of receiving an award.

5.  Don’t Miss Deadlines!

As a TE scholarship candidate, you need to track export application deadlines, import application deadlines, and admission application deadlines. Timelines vary from school to school. Our recommendation: Submit your college admissions application and your TE EZ-Application early in the fall so that you don’t risk being disqualified for consideration. With luck, you’ll get good news back early!

If you haven't already done so, be sure to create your free profile on the TE School Search site. It's a great way to get recruited by schools eager to enroll future TE scholars.
