THIS WEEK IN HOUSTON
July 22–26, 2026
Ten years ago this week, I packed up a life of nearly three decades in Los Angeles, loaded my mom and my two dogs (rest in peace, Vatche and Foxy) into the car, and headed east. After two days on the road, we arrived in Houston on July 26, 2016, in the middle of a summer rainstorm.
I remember joking that if I could survive August in Houston, I'd stay. Somehow, here we are, ten years later (check out my video about this here).
This week also marks another milestone: three years since MUSED Houston became a public weekly newsletter.
When I first arrived in Houston, I simply wanted to help my artist mom discover what was happening in the local visual arts community. Each week, I made a list of exhibitions, openings, and events for us to explore together. That personal guide eventually evolved into the weekly newsletter you're reading today.
I never imagined that a list created for two people would one day grow into an independent publication serving thousands of readers each week.
As we celebrate these milestones, I hope you'll consider making a one-time anniversary gift to help support the next chapter of MUSED Houston.
Thank you for reading, sharing events, pointing out my occasional mistakes, and supporting the artists, museums, galleries, and arts organizations that make Houston such an extraordinary place to live.
MUSED Houston exists because of this community, and I'm grateful to be a small part of it.
Here's to the next chapter.
