Bill introduction deadlines are upon us.

Senate bills that are introduced after Monday, February 9, and

House bills that are introduced after Friday, February 13 are considered “late filed” and are not guaranteed a hearing. This means we can expect to see lots of bills coming in as legislators are fighting to beat those deadlines. Conversely, after those dates we’ll see fewer bills introduced, although it will still be a while before they stop completely.

Opportunities to Testify Coming Up

Are you interested in making your voice heard in Annapolis? Here are some bills that you might be interested in testifying on.

HB371 allows for third-party delivery of Lottery tickets. Imagine DoorDash for the Lottery. It is being heard on Thursday, February 12in the Ways & Means Committee. The Center will be there opposing this bill.

HB518 has a number of strong responsible gambling provisions. The hearing is Thursday, February 12 in the Ways & Means Committee.

The Center is writing a letter to support this bill.
