Upcoming Meetings
Session: Awesomeness of Service Programs (and the truth about binder source)
When: March 11, 2021 @ 3:30 Eastern
Presented by: Patrick Behr
Join us for a great session with Patrick Behr! Learn why service programs are so awesome. We will weigh the pros and cons of different options we have for creating shared routines. We’ll learn how to create a service program and how easy it is to use these shared procedures in our applications. We will discuss the importance of binder source and how using it can make updating our service programs painless.
Session: Open Source: Putting the Pieces Together
When: April 8, 2021 @ 3:30 Eastern
Presented by: Chris Hird, Shield Advanced Solutions Ltd
When starting an Open Source project it is not just about what platform to consider, but also all the tools that you will need to implement the new software and maintain it. During this session with Chris Hird, he will break it down so you can get a clear understanding of how all the pieces fit together. Chris will be sharing insights from the Open Source project that is maintained by IBM (Nagios-for-IBM-i.
Session: ’Shift defects left’ with IBM i Test Automation
When: May 13, 2021 @ 3:30 Eastern
Presented by: Ray Bernardi, ARCAD Software
Application defects that reach production cause costly downtime. The earlier a defect is detected, the less its impact and cost.

In this session, you will learn how to optimize your development costs through test automation:

• Generate unit test assets automatically
• Execute unit and regression testing as continuous part of your DevOps cycle
• Detect defects at the database level
• Identify the source lines to correct

Past Meetings
Session: Universal Scheduling Evolution on IBM i
Presented by: Alex Rodriguez and John Massey , RevSoft
This session will take you through the evolution of job scheduling on the IBM i, and advanced capabilities used today where a Universal Scheduler processes jobs on ALL platforms, where all jobs execute in sequence and all the metrics are managed in real time.
As we look back to IBM i installations of the late 1990’s almost everything revolved around and did happen on the IBM i – maybe except for email, but even then there were some that had email on the IBM i as well with Lotus…Then early in the 21st century a lot of ERP’s, applications and platforms began evolving, (still IBM i was among the largest server deployments globally)…As the century progressed a lot of other server platforms came into the picture, this is when the Universal Scheduling Evolution began. For example, we saw WINDOWS and LINUX servers become the prominent Data Collection points for RF gear, Cash Registers, ATM machines, PLC's, Bar Code readers, Fork Lifts, Web Orders, EDI and other connections – what we witnessed was a change of Ordering & Data Collection and the IBM i server becoming the background ERP Server. The days of Lights Out Processing had gone – companies needing real time processing, and most of all real time metrics for all platforms - if you can’t manage it then you can’t monitor it - became a reality.
Annual Meeting
When: June 14-16, 2021
Where: Virginia Beach, Virginia
We had a unique learning and networking experience planned for our 2020 Annual Meeting, and it was a great success! We plan on following the same model for our 2021 Annual Meeting. As always the atmosphere will be full of energy and excitement that our conferences are known for! We have expanded space and we are splitting the sessions into smaller groups to ensure social distancing - plus we feel that the smaller sessions will increase interactions between the attendees and speakers!

We are working on the details and will be posting more information. If you would like to hold your spot please fill out the user registration. An invoice will be emailed to you. Payment is not due until May 13, 2021. If you plan on attending if you can please fill out the registration to help us plan what the interest is. This will help us in determining room blocks, food and meeting space.

We have a great event planned and we hope to you see you there!
