chfa’s rent reporting program
CHFA recently announced a partnership with leading financial technology company, Esusu Financial, Inc., that will provide the rent reporting service to up to 20,000 tenants by reporting positive rent payments to the major credit bureaus. For property owners, rent reporting may contribute to more on-time rent payments, according to a TransUnion study, which may help property owners reduce delinquencies, evictions, or turnover. It may also help property owners to attract or retain tenants. Once a property is enrolled in the Program, tenants will have the option to opt-in to Esusu’s rent reporting service. The cost will be sponsored by CHFA for three years, making participation in the program free to property owners and tenants. The Rent Reporting for Credit Pilot Program, authorized through HB21-1134, ran from 2021 to 2024. Tenants enrolled in the Pilot who participated in rent reporting saw an average credit score increase of 62 points during the pilot period. To indicate your interest in participating in the Rent Reporting Program, please complete this rent reporting interest form. Properties will be enrolled on a rolling first come first served basis.
