Catholic Schools always....REACHING HIGHER
From the Superintendent...
Greetings!

We understand the benefit of hindsight. Not every lesson plan or staff meeting goes according to script, and in reflecting on these lessons that zigged when they should have zagged, we can often find something we would do differently because our understanding has grown.

We also benefit from hindsight as we read the story of the Transfiguration. We know the end of the Jesus’ story, and so we can more readily see the Transfiguration as an anticipation of Christ’s resurrection; however, the disciples standing with Jesus in this moment do not hold the same advantage and leave the mountain confused.

Lent invites us to sit in this moment with the disciples, to witness moments of “transfiguration” in our lives that are at once bright and yet cast shadows, to hold these moments silent and sacred in anticipation of what they have revealed.

In anticipation of next Thursday’s meeting, please continue to reflect on the questions below. Our hope is that this meeting will allow us time to cast our eyes forward as we explore the future of Catholic education in our archdiocese. This is a first step of many, but important because it will help us begin to understand our hopes in light of the challenges we may face.

If you haven’t yet, please use this registration link to let us know you will be there on March 16.

Here are three questions we will consider:
  1. Using your own perspective as a Catholic school leader, what are your hopes for Catholic education in the Archdiocese of Seattle in the next five years?
  2. Using your own perspective as a Catholic school leader, what do you view as current and future challenges at your school, regional, archdiocesan level?
  3. How do the following partners contribute to the success of Catholic education in the Archdiocese of Seattle? (eg. Office for Catholic Schools, Schools, Parish, Arch of Seattle, Fulcrum, University partners)

With gratitude,

NICHOLAS FORD |  Superintendent
Office for Catholic Schools | Archdiocese of Seattle

Supplemental 2023/2024 Budget Letter from Parish Financial Services
Each February Parish Financial Services distributes a package of information to facilitate Parish and School budgeting for the following fiscal year. The letter in this link was an early supplement to that process. It was shared through PAA's throughout the Archdiocese in December, 2022, but was not shared with OCS at that time. We are sharing it now to make sure certain elements in this document can be considered in your 2023/2024 Budget work. Also, there is a change in the Stock donation process that was effective in January, 2023. We apologize that this was not shared with all of you in December. Please let John Sullivan know if any of the elements in this letter can be explained further.
