Lines, Lives, and Legacies: The 16th Annual KDW Shootout Hooks A Big Win for Trustbridge

The docks at the Palm Beach Yacht Club were buzzing with energy for the 16th Annual KDW Shootout Fishing Tournament. This year’s event was a spectacular success, bringing together 29 dedicated anglers, a massive raffle drawing, a 50/50 raffle, and an abundance of community spirit. Most importantly, this tournament cast a wide net for charity, raising more than $17,125 to benefit Trustbridge Foundation. Since its inception, the KDW Shootout has raised more than $214,000 in support of our mission, creating a lasting impact on the patients and families we serve.

A huge thank you to Michael Goodridge and his incredible committee. Spearheading this independently hosted fundraiser since 2010 demands far more than just hard work—it requires profound empathy and a genuine devotion to the community. The KDW Shootout has created a legacy of generosity that will be felt for generations.

A donor-supported event of this scale is only possible because of the incredible people who show up year after year. Whether you battled it out on the water, bought a 50/50 ticket, sponsored, or donated to the raffle drawing—YOU made this happen.

Thank you, KDW Shootout, for 16 years of spectacular fishing tournaments and your unparalleled support!

Trustbridge Treasures Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

A ribbon-cutting ceremony led by the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce marked the official opening of Trustbridge Treasures on June 25. Trustbridge Foundation staff, board members, resale leaders, volunteers, and community supporters gathered to celebrate the occasion and the many people whose dedication helped bring the new store to life.

In true Trustbridge Resale fashion, store Manager Tom Hosier, alongside his dedicated staff and incredible volunteers, balanced hosting the festivities while assisting customers throughout the day. Guests were invited to be part of the celebration, including a luncheon, ribbon-cutting ceremony, and cocktail hour.

This milestone reflects the hard work, commitment, and generosity of so many who helped bring the new store to life. Their efforts have created a welcoming space where shoppers can discover unique treasures while supporting the compassionate care and programs of Trustbridge.

Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship

The Trustbridge Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program proudly welcomes Micah Chaiprakorb, MD, and Magnolia McElyea, MD, as HCA Florida JFK Fellows, and Krystel Duval, MD, as this year’s Florida Atlantic University Fellow at Trustbridge Hospice.

This one year fellowship provides a strong educational foundation while offering a unique, hands-on experience designed to cultivate compassionate leaders and innovators in hospice and palliative care for our community. Trustbridge Foundation is proud to support these fellowships through the generosity and trust of our donors.

Graduating Fellows Research

2026 graduates of Trustbridge Physician Fellowship Program, Dr. Javier Zaglul and Dr. Jorge Ahues, presented their research topics recently to Empath physicians, administrators and Trustbridge Foundation. Research projects are an important driver of innovation within the Hospice and Palliative Medicine Program.

Dr. Zaglul's research examined AI tools, and highlighted the importance of human oversight as health systems evaluate their integration.

Evaluating standardized hospice educational pamphlet usage during early patient education, Dr. Ahues' project suggested its helpfulness for patients' decision making.

Trustbridge Foundation staff and volunteers recently hosted dinner for families staying at Quantum House in West Palm Beach.

Located next to the Gerstenberg Care Center, Quantum House provides a comfortable home for families traveling to the area while their children receive medical treatment.

Trustbridge Café chefs Ceasar Padron and Dwain Byrd prepared a buffet-style Chinese meal, bringing 60 family members and staff together around the dinner table for an evening of connection with neighbors.

Generosity In Action

This year our nation celebrates 250 years. The freedoms we honor exist because of the men and women who choose to serve our country. Some of them are in our care right now.

At Trustbridge Foundation, honoring veterans is not a program we added. It is part of who we are and weaved into the fabric of what we believe. Our hospice teams identify veterans in our care and ensure their service is recognized with dignity through formal ceremonies, veteran volunteer companions, and a care environment that treats a flag, a hat, and a patriotic song as essential, not optional.

Today, more than 1.4 million veterans live in Florida. Many will face their final chapter without the recognition or support they deserve. Your gift helps them get what they need.

We invite you to honor 250 years of freedom with a gift of $250, one dollar for every year our veterans helped defend our Country, for all of us.

Celebrate America and honor a veteran today! Every gift, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference to important programs and services like this one.

To every veteran: welcome home. Thank you for your service today and always.

🌿 Honoring Tomorrow: The Legacy Society

The Legacy Society celebrates a special community of donors whose compassion extends beyond their lifetime. These visionary supporters have chosen to include Trustbridge Foundation in their estate or planned giving, ensuring that comfort and care remain available for generations to come.

🌟 How to Join the Legacy Society

Becoming a member is simple and meaningful. It takes just two steps:

  1. Include a charitable bequest naming Trustbridge Foundation as a beneficiary in your estate plan.
  2. Notify us of your intention, so we may honor your generosity and welcome you into the Society.

Many supporters choose to make their legacy gift through:

  • A will or trust
  • An IRA or 401(k) retirement plan
  • A life insurance policy
  • A charitable gift annuity, charitable remainder trust, or other planned gift

Each of these options allows donors to create a lasting impact while often providing financial benefits to their estate or heirs.

💙 Why Your Legacy Matters

Legacy gifts help ensure that hospice services remain accessible, compassionate, and innovative. They sustain programs such as grief support, music therapy, and specialized patient care—services that rely on philanthropic support to thrive.

Members of the Legacy Society receive special recognition and invitations to exclusive gatherings, but the greatest reward is knowing their gift will bring comfort and peace to countless families in the years ahead.

If you would like to explore planned giving options or share your intention to join the Society, consider learning more about planned giving, reviewing estate gift options, or asking about beneficiary designations.
