Greetings!
In this month of the Rosary, I have been reflecting on Mary’s quiet strength and steadfast trust in God’s plan. In a time when culture often moves faster than our capacity to make sense of it, we have a steady compass in her, the first disciple and the heart of our faith. In seeking to grow a strong Catholic culture here in western Washington, Archbishop Etienne has encouraged us all to grow in Marian devotion, which is not to look backward with nostalgia, but to look forward with trust. Mary shows us what it means to say yes to God’s call, even when the path ahead is uncertain.
She teaches us to receive before we act and to make space for the Holy Spirit to work through us. When we pause long enough to listen as she did, our leadership, teaching, and service become less about our own plans and more about God’s unfolding grace in our midst.
A community that honors Mary becomes one that listens before it speaks, welcomes before it judges, and believes that God’s promises are being fulfilled, even in the most ordinary moments of our schools, parishes, and homes.
Our Lady of Seattle, pray for us.

Registration for our annual meeting of principals and pastoral leadership is now open. Our meeting this year will be held at St. Thomas in Tukwila, on Thursday, October 23. In addition to our outreach, please personally extend this invitation to your pastor.
In addition to the leadership pairing of the pastor and principal, if you would find it helpful, you may choose to extend the invitation to another member of the parish leadership, such as a parochial vicar, a DOO or PAA, or your School Commission Chair.
Please take a moment to register here. A working agenda for the day can be found here.
With gratitude,
NICHOLAS FORD | Superintendent
Office for Catholic Schools | Archdiocese of Seattle
