Dear Supporter of World Partners,
In response to the Covid-19 outbreak, we are honouring our Government's request for cancellation of public gatherings, seeking to 'flatten the curve' of infections.
EMCC and World Partners events for April will be cancelled and 'reimagined'.
There will be
no Regional Gatherings
in Kitchener or Calgary,
no GlobalFest
events on April 17th or 24th, and
our Global Partners from Nepal, India, and Kenya will not travel
to Canada at this time. Watch for EMCC's
shift
to Online or Rescheduled events.
What about WP Global Workers (Missionaries)?
For our Global Workers serving outside Canada, we support the desire of those who are healthy to stay where they are, self-isolating to prevent any spread of Covid-19 to the best of their ability, yet continuing to serve in Jesus' name.
We also remember
Dan and Kerry Wiens
, whose trip to Ethiopia has been cancelled, and are set to arrive sooner than expected in Canada.
They will not come to Ontario, as previously planned, but will land in Calgary
, and after a 14-day self-isolation period, will engage with Canadian supporters "virtually" for an adapted Home Ministry Assignment.
We will update you on any other impact on WP-Supervised Global Workers in the coming days.
Participate in Jesus' Mission where you are.
As followers of Jesus, our faith finds rest in an unchanging God. The church with cancelled programs and worship meetings is still the church! We are the Body of Christ, called to carry Jesus' heart, hands, feet, and voice to our communities -
to live the way Jesus calls us to
. How can you protect the vulnerable in your community, and include them in your prayer and action? We have all been sent to bless others, and invite them to experience Jesus through us in these days.
Let us all continue to show generosity towards churches making a difference in their communities, Global Partner Churches leading the way to care for those affected by this latest trial, and our Global Workers, who join Jesus and the Global Church in efforts to experience God's Kingdom transformation together.
Finally, let's continue to pray for care-givers and front-line responders, for those who are working (in factories, power grid, traffic regulation, logistics, food chain, safety, government, etc.) as well as all who may be affected by the disease, through infection or through isolation. Beyond the physical needs, remember people's spiritual, social, and mental/emotional needs. Be safe, yet open. Check in on neighbours, and be a helper.
With a thankful heart, that we get to follow Jesus wherever we are and whatever today brings,
