1. How long have you been a tutor at WVNCC?
I started as a tutor in 2010. I have also worked as a Teaching Assistant and now the Lead Tutor. So I have been with WVNCC for almost 12 years altogether.
2. What subject do you tutor students in?
Math 101, 109, 115 History 110, 111 Blackboard Study Skills
3. What is your favorite subject to teach and why?
Math. I have always loved math, which I know is normally an unpopular opinion. Most students come to me saying "I hate math!" or "I just can't get it no matter how hard I try!" My goal is for them to finish the semester saying, "Math isn't that bad after all!" I love taking something that I enjoy and helping someone who struggles with it better understand it and maybe even begin to like it a little bit.
4.) What advice would you give a student who might be thinking about getting a tutor?
DO IT! We are not scary! I know making that initial appointment can be intimidating but I promise you, we just want to help you succeed! I have found many times that once students get over the nervousness of the first appointment, they actually look forward to tutoring sessions!
5.) What are the best ways for students to contact you for an appointment?
Call me at 304-510-8760
