President's Message
Dear Colleagues, I hope everyone is enjoying the summer time and able to get some time to relax and refresh. We are sending out this update to make sure everyone knows about everything that has been going on with the Texas Chapter of the American College of Physicians.
We have recently switched management services teams and now are collaborating with AMI (Association Management Inc.) who also oversees several other state ACP chapters, and this has been an excellent transition. They know how ACP works and have been an asset already. What you will notice is some different email links to get in touch with us and some design changes in both our emails and the websites.
The Board of Directors of the Texas ACP had a recent meeting and discussed the direction and strategy of the chapter. Our Mission is to promote quality healthcare for all Texans by strengthening the practice of Internal Medicine. Part of this discussion was a redesign of our current committee structure. We have streamlined our committees to focus on our three priorities, which are Education, Member Engagement, and Advocacy. The Education Committee will focus on our Chapter Meetings, Resident and Fellow Events, Medical Students, and the General Internal Medicine Preceptorship Program (GIMSPP). Member Engagement will prioritize themselves with Wellness, Communications,Women in Medicine, and Early Career Physician activities. The Advocacy Committee will focus on Health & Public Policy issues under TAX Services. Please consider volunteering to participate in our committees. I am sure you will find something that feeds your passion in medicine.
