New Main Street Director!

Dave Tavres

Dave Tavres’ professional career has spanned many fields over the years including software testing at Microsoft, software program management for Sony, small business consulting and website development for his own consulting firm, and tour guide and locomotive engineer for Disneyland Railroad. He also used his time and talents to volunteer at several nonprofits, even helping form a few, including California State Parks, Bodie Foundation, Walt’s Barn, Griffith Park, and Carolwood Foundation.

It was his time at Disney that eventually led him to Marceline, Missouri, as Dave puts it, “During my time at Disneyland, I became a passionate student and admirer of Walt Disney. It took a while, but I finally made the pilgrimage to Marceline, Missouri - Walt Disney's hometown. I fell in love with Marceline the first time I visited, and wanted to move there. The problem was - bad internet. As a computer geek, I needed better connectivity than what Marceline had if I was going to continue doing business and technical consulting. Years later Marceline got a fiber connection to the internet, so at the end of 2021 I packed up my life and headed for Missouri.”

In Marceline, he soon bought a house and began volunteering anywhere he could be useful. He attended every public meeting he could find, which allowed him to meet many people in the community.

Now, Dave serves as the Executive Director of Downtown Marceline. He shared how his skills are serving the organization, “As a geek, I'm slowly applying more technology to the Downtown Marceline operation, and working on putting together the data that so many other Main Street organizations have done so well. I'm here to serve my Board, the Main Street USA merchants, and the people of Marceline anyway I'm needed. I have a lot to learn, and a lot to contribute. I'm excited to be a part of this community and share more of Walt Disney's history and passion with the world.”
