This WILPF US national forum, sponsored by our national Board, is designed for a chance to hear from current members. Express your voice on issues of racial justice within our WILPF Section.
Members in WILPF US, often in our branches, have been or are currently engaged in book study groups and introspective forums on racial justice issues. This Day of Dialogue may be an opportune time to share information on these endeavors. Additionally, this forum gives members an opportunity to voice whatever impediments they perceive that might divide our organization.
Issues of Racial Justice and WILPF
How do these issues apply globally for WILPF, given the realities of neocolonialism and First World privilege? How can activists in the U.S. Section best show solidarity with other WILPF national Sections and Groups in other parts of the world? How do our efforts for a more inclusive WILPF US tie in with efforts for a more inclusive International WILPF?
This dialogue session is designed for individual members to share views, concerns, and questions. We, the Board, want individuals in our general membership to come together – to speak up and to hear other members’ sharing.
Potentially Controversial Board Actions
The members of the Board recognize that, in the past year, we have taken some actions which have led some members to have concerns. Those developments have led us to set up this opportunity to hear more specifically about the concerns that some WILPF members may have about the Board’s actions.
The Board has issued two relevant documents:
1. The memo on “WILPF US and the Black liberation Caucus (BLC)”
2. The Discussion Listserv Post Announcing the List Suspension
