Please join us in congratulating our Executive Director, Elizabeth Williams, on stepping into her new, dual role as the ED for both MountainCare and the Council on Aging for Henderson County!
Elizabeth and three other MountainCare leaders are currently supporting both organizations in an effort to increase collaboration and streamline administrative functions.
"MountainCare and the Council on Aging are both committed to supporting older adults who live in the community by offering services which promote engagement and independence," Board Chair Barbara St. Hilaire explains. "We are proud to be working in new ways with our community partners to better address the complexity of issues which impact elders in our community—issues which will impact each of us as we age."
The formal partnership between MountainCare and COA-H is part of a larger effort to address the challenges aging providers face as demographics continue to grow. MountainCare has been at the forefront of the development of the WNC Aging Alliance, a group dedicated to finding innovative and sustainable ways to operate while scaling up to meet community needs. The Alliance was recently awarded a grant of $25,000 through Dogwood Health Trust to hire a consultant to explore the feasability of various partnership models.
