  • Approved minutes of the July 26 stated meeting and the August 6 called meeting.
  • Received and approved the pastor’s request to end the relationship with CHPC on October 31, 2023. Peggy's last day in the pulpit will be Sunday, October 15, and last day in the office will be Tuesday, October 17. She will be on vacation and a week of continuing education October 18-31.
  • Approved a request from Jerry Van Marter and Ben Langley to have a cookout after worship on September 3.
  • Elected Eva Stimson and Don Mead as commissioners to the September 18 Presbytery meeting, with Jack Marcum as an alternate.

The remainder of the meeting was spent in discussion about the pastor search and creating a task force to assess the church's committee structure.

Picnic Leftovers!

There were lots of leftovers from the CHPC worship/picnic on August 20, so on SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, AFTER CHURCH, Ben Langley and Jerry Van Marter will be cooking hamburgers and hot dogs in the parking lot of CHPC. There are also plenty of drinks, so wander out to the parking lot after church for a burger, hot dog and a soft drink.

Braille Readers Theater presents,

"Their Story, Their Song"

Crescent Hill Presbyterian Church will host the Braille Readers Theater production of “Their Story, Their Song,” by B.T. Kimbrough.

The play is about Fanny Crosby, the 19th-century hymn writer. In Braile Readers Theater, all the actors are blind. They read their scripts in braille or on an electronic device called a braille notetaker. Costumes, gestures, the set, and minimal stage movement help bring people who are sighted into the world of the play.

It opens Friday, August 25, at 7 p.m., with another performance at

1 p.m. on Saturday, August 26. The CHPC congregation is invited. There is no ticket fee, but reservations are required and can be made by emailing kcarpenter@aph.org or calling 502-899-2213.

Visiting Church Leaders from El Salvador and Guatemala

International Peacemaker Abdias Noemi Iglesias Sanchez, a leader of the Reformed church in El Salvador, and Leslie Vogel, a Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) mission co-worker in Guatemala, will be in Kentuckiana from Friday, September 15, through Thursday, September 21.

Crescent Hill folks will meet the two women for lunch on a day to be determined. Stay tuned for more information.

In addition, you're invited to engage with these two church leaders by hosting the two in your home, having them over for a meal, taking them on a local outing, or listening to them over supper Friday or Sunday evening. Contact Perry Chang for more information.
