Hello Business,

Advent is a time to get ready for the coming of Christ. Advent should be anything but mundane! Christ’s coming is critical. We prepare not only our hearts but our Church. The Advent wreath, the banners in the Church and the purple altar cloth are simple, yet powerful reminders that Christ is coming; we need to pay attention and make special preparations.

We have two powerful and helpful prayer Advent guides for each family in the parish. The “Becoming Pilgrims of Hope Advent” or “The Magnificat” booklets are located by the front doors of the Church parish and are helpful in preparing our hearts for this season of hope, peace, joy, and love. Please pick one up and start your plans to make way for Christ.

The Magnificat helps us to understand the meaning of hope.

"In the New Testament, "elpis" primarily denotes a confident expectation or trust in God's promises. It is not merely wishful thinking but a firm assurance based on the character and faithfulness of God. This hope is often linked with faith and love, forming a triad of Christian virtues (1 Corinthians 13:13)."

Upcoming Events and Opportunities:

Dear Fellow Steward,

Christmas is traditionally a season of giving. As God the Father gave us His Son for our salvation, so we are called to give of ourselves to others- to love God, love others, and make disciples of all people by sharing the gifts God has given us. This includes sharing our time, talent and treasure.

As we prepare our hearts to celebrate the birth of Jesus, I ask that you consider what it means to be a good steward of the gifts God has given you. Prayerfully reflect on the blessings in your life, and how you might express gratitude to God for those blessings. Thank you for your generosity, and may the joy and love of Jesus fill your heart this Christmas.

~Fr. Bill

Happy Thanksgiving and THANK YOU to all our parishioners for your generous support of our mission throughout the year.

A big thank you to Resurrection Catholic Parish School for their amazing food drive for our pantry! The drive has helped to fill our shelves. Many families will appreciate the donations in the food bags to our community that we deliver throughout the year.

Our next SVdP meeting is on Sunday, December 9th from 9:45am to 10:45am in Rossman Hall.

QCD

A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) allows individuals who are 70½ years old or older to donate up to $105,000 total to one or more charities directly from a taxable IRA instead of taking their required minimum distributions.

RMD

Required minimum distributions (RMDs) are the minimum amounts you must withdraw from your retirement accounts each year. You generally must start taking withdrawals from your traditional IRA, SEP IRA, SIMPLE IRA, and retirement plan accounts when you reach age 72.

If you are over 72 years of age you qualify to take annual distributions from your retirement account to make tax free donations to charities of your choice.

Resurrection Church is a qualified public charity 501(c)(3) and can receive your QCD.

We thank you in advance for considering Resurrection Catholic Church and School as recipients of your donations.
