NCLGS Winter Meeting to Examine Artificial Intelligence’s Impact on Sports Betting Regulation and Integrity

SAVANNAH, GA: As artificial intelligence continues to reshape sports and sports betting, new questions are emerging about sports integrity, regulatory oversight, and the future of gaming. The National Council of Legislators from Gaming States (NCLGS) will bring together industry, regulatory, and technology experts to examine these issues during its 2026 Winter Meeting, December 9-12, at the JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District in Savannah.

Presented by the NCLGS Special Committee on Technology, the featured session, “Artificial Intelligence, Sports Integrity, and Gaming Regulation,” will explore how rapidly evolving technologies are transforming sports wagering, and the regulatory challenges they present.

Panelists will examine whether sports betting should adopt oversight frameworks similar to those long established in the casino industry, including standards development, independent testing, certification, and verification. The discussion will also address the increasingly complex relationship between sports governing bodies and gaming regulators, including where their respective responsibilities begin and end as artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies influence sporting events and wagering markets.

This discussion will offer policymakers and industry leaders an opportunity to assess how regulation can keep pace with technological innovation while protecting sports integrity and maintaining public confidence in legal sports betting.

The session will be chaired by Steve Geller, former Florida Senator, NCLGS Founder, and General Counsel. Featured presenters include:

  • Gabe Benedik, Senior Executive, Government Affairs, Gaming Laboratories International, LLC (GLI)
  • Loraine Irizarry, Director, Sports Betting Bureau, Puerto Rico Gaming Commission
  • Jon Kropp, Vice President, Digital Media, TMRW Sports
  • Jordan Maynard, Chair, Massachusetts Gaming Commission
  • Marvin Yates, Vice President, Strategic Government Relations, MultiState Associates Inc.

The NCLGS Winter Meeting will feature two evening receptions, December 9th and 10th, as well as a late-night event (sponsored by FanDuel), taking place December 9th. These gatherings offer legislators, regulators, and gaming industry stakeholders the chance to connect, exchange ideas, and build relationships outside of the formal meeting sessions – an important complement to the policy discussions and educational programming that define the NCLGS experience.

The semi-annual NCLGS Meetings are the only national conferences where sitting legislators convene to discuss gaming policy. The Winter Meeting program will feature legislator-led sessions, regulatory and industry panels, responsible gaming discussions, and networking events with policymakers and industry leaders from across the country.

Room reservations must be made prior to November 7 to secure the NCLGS group rate. Click here to reserve your room at JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District.

We have also secured a block of rooms at a special group rate at the Hyatt Regency Savannah, conveniently located just a short walk from the conference venue. The discounted room rate is available through November 17, 2026. Reserve your room here.

Sponsorship opportunities are also offered for organizations wishing to engage directly with policymakers and industry leaders. Sponsoring this event positions your organization at the center of gaming policy dialogue, with meaningful, lasting visibility among the decision-makers who matter most.
