NATIONAL MAD HATTER DAY

October 6 is a day set aside each year to bring out your silly side while celebrating National Mad Hatter Day.

The fictional character, The Hatter (also known as The Mad Hatter) from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, is typically acting silly, and that is how the creators of this day decided on their theme of silliness for National Mad Hatter Day. Sir John Tenniel illustrated The Mad Hatter and all of Lewis Carroll's colorful characters beginning in 1864. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland was first published in 1865.

The phrase "mad as a hatter" comes from the late 18th and early 19th centuries when haberdasheries used mercury nitrate. The exposure to this metal over time caused the tradesmen to develop symptoms making people believe they were mad.

Taking our inspiration from The Mad Hatter (or any of Carroll's characters for that matter) we may pursue laughable, absurd, or even confusing adventures on National Mad Hatter Day. Breakout from the usual routine. Ask ridiculous riddles much like The Hatter's own, "Why is a raven like a writing desk?" Play croquet with plastic pink flamingos or wear a funny hat to work. Celebrate the day with silliness!

12 FAMOUS HATS YOU SHOULD KNOW

  1. First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy's pink pillbox hat
  2. Dr. Seuss's crooked, red and white striped top hat.
  3. Abraham Lincoln's black stovepipe hat
  4. Davy Crockett's coonskin cap
  5. Indian Jone's fedora
  6. The Sorting Hat from Harry Potter
  7. Santa Claus's red and white fur stocking cap
  8. Bob Marley's rasta hat
  9. Sherlock Holmes's deerstalker
  10. Marvin the Martian's helmet
  11. Charlie Chaplin's bowler
  12. Willie Wonka's top hat
Did you know?
Lewis Carroll (a pen name for Charles Lutwidge Dodson) once answered The Hatter's riddle. In the 1896 edition of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland Carroll wrote as part of his preface, "Because it can produce a few notes, tho they are very flat; and it is nevar put with the wrong end in front!"

Directions and Parking

The Sunday Market is located in the parking lot of Tad Gormley Stadium at the corner of Marconi and Navarre. While the parking lot is closed off to house the market, there is plenty of parking along Marconi and surrounding streets. Please be diligent about following parking signs and only park in clearly marked spaces with perpendicular markings. DO NOT park in the bike lanes, as this makes our market space unsafe to bikers and pedestrians and threatens our ability to continue operating the market here. No parking allowed on the neutral ground. Please don't pull up into the market driveway for recycling pick ups or drop offs. Thank you for understanding!

RTA Bus Route 27: Louisiana passes right by market! Click here to view more details about route 27.

FRONT SAVES US - The track looks weird but it’s that time of year where we shut down the threat to the northern Gulf Coast. Fronts are dropping south even though it doesn’t always feel like it. This week as Milton becomes a major and swings east to Florida, we’ll get a strong north wind bringing in cooler and drier air. I think multiple mornings in the 50’s are possible. It’s hard to get excited because of what will happen to our friends in Florida.

The New Orleans Health Department has free laminated “Firearm Free” Business signs on hand, and has a form where businesses can easily sign up to receive signage and select a time for delivery by NOHD staff: Interested businesses should fill out this survey:

In this hilarious 90-minute show, two performers play 13 roles – not to mention the piano – in a witty and winking homage to old-fashioned murder mysteries. ONE ACTOR investigates the crime. THE OTHER plays all of the suspects. And THEY BOTH play the piano. You won’t want to miss this killer musical comedy!

Officer Marcus Moscowicz is a small town policeman with dreams of making it to detective. One fateful night, shots ring out at the surprise birthday party of Great American Novelist Arthur Whitney and the writer is killed…fatally. With the nearest detective an hour away, Marcus jumps at the chance to prove his sleuthing skills – with the help of his silent partner, Lou. But whodunit? Did Dahlia Whitney, Arthur’s scene-stealing wife, give him a big finish? Is Barrette Lewis, the prima ballerina, the prime suspect? Did Dr. Griff, the overly-friendly psychiatrist, make a frenemy? Marcus only has a short amount of time to find the killer and make his name before the real detective arrives…and the ice cream melts!

Bless Your Pets on the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi

The Feast of St. Francis of Assisi commemorates the life of St. Francis.

Who is St. Francis of Assisi

St. Francis of Assisiwas born in the 12th century, lived in Italy, and founded the men’s Order of Friars Minor, the women’s Order of St. Clare, and the Third Order of Saint Francis for men and women not able to live the lives of itinerant preachers. Francis is one of the most venerated religious figures in history.

He is remembered for his generosity to the poor, his willingness to minister to the lepers, and for his love for animals and nature. He is the Catholic Church’s patron saint of animals and the environment.

The Blessing of Animals

Many people bring their pets to the church to be blessed on St. Francis’ feast day because of his love for animals as expressed in his Canticle of Creatures. You can pray for and bless your pets and animals at home too. A verbal blessing and a sprinkling holy water can be offered in your backyard, garden or anywhere inside your home.

The following Pet Blessing can be used:

Blessed are you, Lord God, maker of all living creatures.

You called forth fish in the sea, birds in the air, and animals on the land.

You inspired St. Francis to call all of them his brothers and sisters.

We ask you to bless this pet.

By the power of your love, enable it to live according to your plan.

May we always praise you fSt Charles Avenue Baptist Church | 7100 St. Charles Avenue | New Orleans, LA 70118 USor all your beauty in creation.

Blessed are you, Lord our God, in all your creatures! Amen.

Blessing of the Animals, October 6

We will celebrate the Feast of St. Francis on Sunday with the blessing of animals at 3:30 pm in the courtyard. Bring your pets on a leash or your stuffed animals to receive a blessing.

Francis of Assisi, was an Italian mystic, poet, and Catholic friar who founded the religious order of the Franciscans. Francis is associated with patronage of animals and the environment. The Anglican Church retained the Catholic tradition of blessing animals on or near Francis' feast day of October 4.

Nickel-A-Dance Fall 2024 Season to Begin on Frenchmen Street

by: OffBeat Staff

The fall 2024 season of Nickel-A-Dance, a beloved free traditional jazz concert series, is set to begin on September 29. For over three decades, Nickel-A-Dance has brought live jazz to the public, offering an afternoon of family-friendly entertainment on Sundays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. This year, the series moves to a new location at Favela Chic, located at 525 Frenchmen Street, continuing its tradition on this famous music corridor.

Originally started in 1994, Nickel-A-Dance has become a staple for fans of New Orleans jazz who may not frequent nightclubs. It attracts a diverse crowd, including children, families, and seniors, all coming together to celebrate traditional jazz as America’s original dance music. This fall’s lineup will feature some of the city’s most renowned jazz musicians.

On October 6, Nickel-A-Dance will host Duke Heitger and The Crescent City Joymakers. Heitger, a classic jazz trumpeter known for his virtuosity, has performed internationally and is a long-standing performer on the Steamboat Natchez. His band is a staple of Nickel-A-Dance and promises a night of spirited traditional jazz.

Next, on October 13, Mark Braud and His Sunday Night All-Stars will take the stage. Braud, part of the musical Brunious and Santiago families, has been a fixture in the New Orleans jazz scene since his youth. He has performed with Harry Connick Jr., Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and many other notable artists. His band will bring a blend of traditional jazz and contemporary flair to the series.

Lars Edegran and The Palm Court Jazz All-Stars are set to perform on October 20. Edegran, originally from Sweden, has been a New Orleans resident since 1966 and is known for his versatility on piano, guitar, and banjo. He has worked with jazz greats like Earl Hines and George Lewis, and his band will showcase the best of New Orleans traditional jazz.

The fall series will conclude on October 27 with Gregg Stafford and The Jazz Hounds. Stafford, a respected trumpeter and vocalist, has led several prominent New Orleans jazz bands, including Danny Barker’s Jazz Hounds and the Young Tuxedo Brass Band. He has dedicated his career to preserving the musical traditions of New Orleans and remains an active figure in the city’s jazz community.

NATIONAL NOODLE DAY

October 6th and National Noodle Day recognizes oodles of noodles just in time for National Pasta Month! What style do you prefer?

If you missed National Linguine Day in September, this day offers an opportunity to make up for it.

The word noodle derives from the German word nudel.

Noodles are made by rolling unleavened dough out and cutting into a variety of shapes. While long, flat noodles may seem to be the most common, they come in several forms, names, and textures. And each kind of noodle pairs differently with sauces and meals.

Found in regions all over the world, noodles are made from a variety of flours. In Asian cuisine, root vegetables, such as yams and potatoes, beans, rice, wheat, and buckwheat are all found in a wide assortment of noodles. Europeans make most of their pasta from durum or semolina flour, though potato noodles a enjoyed as well.

The method of making noodles from wheat or rice flour, as we commonly know them today, likely developed later in Chinese history, with some historians suggesting it may have occurred during the Han Dynasty (206 BCE - 220 CE).

Noodles also have a significant history in Italy, with pasta being a staple in Italian cuisine. The earliest recorded reference to pasta in Italy is in the 13th century, but it is likely that pasta was being made and consumed before then.

In 2002, archaeologists along the Yellow River in China found an earthenware bowl containing some 4000-year-old noodles which had been well preserved. However, this historic find may not have been the same type of noodles we are familiar with today. Either way, noodles have a complex and ancient history, with different cultures contributing to their development over time.

8 Common Noodles Around the World

Noodles vary depending on the region and culture, but some types of noodles are widely consumed and recognized around the world. Here is our shortlist of the most common types of noodles:

  1. Wheat noodles
  2. Rice noodles
  3. Ramen
  4. Spaghetti
  5. Linguine
  6. Fettuccine
  7. Lasagna
  8. Egg noodles

From Lucy Ricardo to Michael Scott: 10 characters that made it big

Credit: Nabil Saleh

From belly laughs to moments of deep reflection, TV shows and movies have been our trusty companions, bringing endless entertainment right into our living rooms. But what really makes them unforgettable are the iconic characters that jump from the screen straight into our hearts. While we each have our personal favorites, there are those special characters that are universally adored.

Today, we will remember 10 of these figures who've left an indelible mark on entire generations and will hardly be forgotten by popular culture.

1Yoda (Star Wars)

Credit: Kelly Sikkema

Yoda, one of the most outstanding characters in the captivating Star Wars universe, embodies traits we all admire: serenity and wisdom. Despite being small in size, his strength is monumental, and his demeanor captivates audiences, something evident since his debut in 1980's The Empire Strikes Back. Moreover, Yoda's influence on Luke Skywalker shapes the trajectory of his story, proving his indispensable role in the saga.

And if you needed another reason to love Yoda, here's a delightful fact: the make-up artist Stuart Freeborn revealed that part of the character's unmistakable face was inspired by none other than Albert Einstein!

2Chandler Bing (Friends)

Credit: Ilse Orsel

Among the six main characters on Friends, Chandler often steals the spotlight as a fan favorite, and it's not hard to understand why.

His charming blend of shyness and fear of commitment adds depth to his character and makes him relatable to many. Despite his struggles, Chandler's wit and inclination for humor and jokes serve as his coping mechanism, making him effortlessly lovable.

A good friend and generous companion, this character also has colorful peculiarities, such as his notorious third nipple and an unusual middle name, Muriel.

3Rocky Balboa (Rocky)

Credit: Attentie Attentie

Created and personified by Sylvester Stallone, Rocky Balboa is a great character who has taught us about discipline and resilience, qualities represented in one of his phrases, "It ain't about how hard you hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward."

Rocky isn't just a boxer; during the series of films that have him as the main character, we see the evolution of a tenacious man who will not stop fighting (literally) until he reaches his goals. In addition to his determination, the ability to learn from his mistakes and take care of those he loves are some of his greatest traits. He is truly a champion in many ways!

4Gandalf (The Hobbit/ The Lord of the Rings)

Credit: Thomas Schweighofer

Created by J. R. R. Tolkien for his novels, Gandalf is one of the most beloved characters in the world of epic fantasy. With a beard as wise as his words, this wizard plays a crucial role in the saga. His magical abilities and his commitment to goodness make him an admirable figure who serves as a guide to other characters in the universe created by Tolkien.

Fan love for this character has also grown in no small part thanks to the captivating performance of the immensely talented Ian McKellen in Peter Jackson's cinematic versions of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. Many people have a Gandalf-like figure in their lives, right? So, who is your Gandalf?

5E.T. (E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial)

Credit: Rick L

When movies portray the arrival of extraterrestrial beings on our planet, it is usually in the form of invasion, war, and misunderstanding between two species. But every so often, there's a different kind of alien encounter that warms our hearts instead of scaring us.

Unlike the aliens that can be seen in other movies, E.T. is a curious creature full of love and understanding that establishes a deep connection and friendship with Elliott, a boy who shares these qualities.

E.T. symbolizes unity through shared experiences and feelings rather than focusing on differences. This character resonated deeply with the generation of the ‘80s and continues to be a beloved part of pop culture today.

6Forrest Gump (Forrest Gump)

Credit: Yosuke Ota

Forrest is a character who has captured the hearts of people all across the globe. He is frequently described as having a low IQ, but his emotional intelligence is certainly very high. This character possesses several admirable traits, chief among them being his kindness, loyalty, perseverance, and integrity.

Plus points for Forrest because, well, Tom Hanks plays him, and let's be honest, who doesn't have a soft spot for Tom Hanks?

7Lucy Ricardo (I Love Lucy)

Credit: Stephen Monterroso

Can you believe it's been more than 70 years since the iconic sitcom I Love Lucy first aired? However, its characters are still in our hearts, particularly the one after whom the show is named: Lucy.

Portrayed by the legendary Lucille Ball, Lucy Ricardo is undoubtedly an iconic character in TV history. Lucy has given us endless laughs, but her friendly, curious, and ambitious personality also made us stop and think about the role of women in society, something revolutionary for the time when the show was first aired.

8Michael Scott (The Office)

Credit: Adolfo Félix

Not all the characters on this list are flawless, and Michael Scott from The Office is a good example.

Played brilliantly by Steve Carell in the U.S. version of the show, Michael is an eccentric boss who is as lovable as he is exasperating. His constant self-doubt often sabotages his authority, as he usually craves the approval and affection of others.

Despite his selfish and quirky tendencies, Michael also shows surprisingly kind and caring actions. This blend of flaws and virtues makes him so authentic, proving that you don't need to be perfect to be loved.

9Sheldon Cooper (The Big Bang Theory)

Credit: Ben Griffiths

Similar to Michael Scott, Sheldon Cooper is a mix of positive and negative characteristics.

Undoubtedly, his defining feature is his extraordinary intellect, particularly in the realm of science, especially physics. However, this brilliance contrasts with his lack of empathy and his struggle to connect emotionally with others. This rare combination results in many comedic moments for viewers to enjoy.

Of course, as the show unfolds, we witness some growth in Sheldon's character. Despite his stubbornness, he gradually begins to make efforts to consider the feelings of his friends, even if it initially seems illogical to him and his big brain.

10The Bride (Kill Bill)

Credit: Jr Korpa

Played by the famous Uma Thurman, "The Bride," also known as Beatrix Kiddo, is the central character in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill film series.

As we have come to expect in a Tarantino film, this character is frequently surrounded or stained with blood. But The Bride has her good reasons. Driven primarily by a thirst for revenge, the compelling backstory of this character evokes empathy and awakens the desire to join her on her path of revenge.

Despite the huge challenges she has to face, she stands as an example of tenacity and perseverance, which is shown through her admirable physical and combat skills.

Mon, September 30

8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

(Entry at 7:30 pm)

The Open Mic From Hell is the most unique night of comedy in New Orleans.

Everything about the show is chaotic and unpredictable in the most beautifully hilarious way.

The list of performers? A total mystery.

The jokes they’ll tell? Nobody knows, not even them.

How does it work? Comedians sign-up on the list an hour before showtime. At least 13 names get pulled out of the bucket.

When a name gets pulled they come on stage and make a choice - do they do an entirely new set based on words from the audience, or a special challenge set.

Past challenges have had comics doing their set outside on the street, with noise canceling headphones on, and with a designated heckler in the crowd. We are always adding new, improved, and ridiculous challenges to the show.

Join the award-winning (1st place, baby!) NOLA Jitterbugs for a 6-week series with live music in the last class!

Our live music classes with local musicians and culture bearers, as well as our overall emphasis on music appreciation is what makes our lessons stand out among the rest!

Starts at The Contemporary Arts Center!

6-7pm Intro to Swing

For total beginners to swing dancing or dancing of any kind. Also for those looking to refresh their basics and learn some ragtime dances. We use these pre-swing era dances to teach beginners how to step on rhythm, step on rhythm while connected to another person, how to connect in order to lead or follow, you'll learn to syncopate your footwork, and then we'll slowly start to let go of one hand and create the beginnings of what will eventually be a bad-ass swing out.

7:30-8:30 Lindy Hop Vocab - Intermediate Level

This class is gonna give you some must know moves, some technique, some philosophy, and of course, we'll continue to clarify and polish up your swing outs.

No partner required to take either of these classes. Come alone or with friends!

New Orleans– West Bank Hispanic Heritage Festival organizers announced today that over 30 vendors will participate in this year’s inaugural event to bring a day of vibrant music, diverse culinary offerings, and community celebrations to the University of Holy Cross (UHC) campus in Algiers on October 12, 2024, from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.

This year’s festival, free and open to the public, will have offerings for everyone including a full lineup of music, entertainment for adults and kids, and a large community health event. From live performances to delicious food, the festival is designed to honor Hispanic heritage in an inclusive environment where everyone is welcome.

“Our mission is to bring together people from all backgrounds throughout the city,” said Stephanie Davi McNeely, Chair of the West Bank Hispanic Heritage Festival and the First Lady of the University of Holy Cross. “The festival highlights the diversity of our Hispanic culture through music, food, art and education in a fun, family-friendly and free environment, right in the heart of the UHC campus.”

Live entertainment will keep the crowd energized throughout the day, with performances on the Redmann Law Stage by:

“Our UHC community is approximately 12 percent Hispanic, and we are excited to showcase not only the strong educational programs and welcoming campus environment that UHC offers, but also hope attendees are able to discover something new about the Hispanic culture that plays such an important role in our community,” said Dr. Stanton McNeely, president of the University of Holy Cross.

Rougarou Fest Queen Embodies Louisiana Fifolet

The Rougarou Fest is proud to announce Mrs. Courtney Bennett will reign as the 2024 Rougarou Queen.

A native of Morgan City, and a resident of Houma since 1984, Courtney has been active and involved in gymnastics, cheering, dancing, and numerous music and art events in our community. She is the mother of two awesome children, Gavin, age 13, and Laurel, age 6. She has been married for 18 years to the love of her life, Garrett Bennett.

Courtney graduated from Nicholls State University with a degree in early childhood education. With that education and her creative passion, she spent many years working with children at the preschool at her church, with events at SOLA – a local children’s theatre, and as a dancer and instructor at Paddy Danos School of Dance. Because of her realization of her love of makeup and theater, she followed her creative dream and enrolled in cosmetology! Today she’s a hairstylist at Ambiance Salon in Houma.

Continuing her dreams of designing hair and make-up and ALWAYS a fan of dress up and costuming, she became involved in Rougarou Fest with Jonathan Foret. She has been a Rougarou witch for many years dancing the streets with her sister, Megan, and her fellow hairstylist and friend, Danae. She admits that the hours they spent doing witch make-up and costumes are just as fun as the parade. The first time she saw the Rougarou parade, she knew she had to be a part of it. It’s with her fellow witchy sisters, that she haunts the streets of Houma with their German witch dance.

She is very excited and appreciative to be able to take on this creative project and represent the festival as the 2024 Rougarou Queen. She looks forward to working with her longtime friend, Jonathan Foret, and his committee and volunteers. She encourages everyone to come out and enjoy everything the festival represents and has to offer!

Her costume is inspired by the story of the fifolet. In Louisiana folklore, the "fifolet" is a supernatural creature closely related to the "will-o'-the-wisp" found in other cultures. The fifolet is believed to be a type of mischievous spirit or fairy that appears as a glowing light, often seen floating over marshes, swamps, or other eerie, dark places.

Much like the will-o'-the-wisp, the fifolet is said to lead people astray, drawing them into dangerous or confusing situations. It’s often described as a trickster that lures travelers off their paths, playing with their sense of direction and perception. In some tales, encountering a fifolet might mean you're about to face some misfortune or get lost. The lore around fifolets reflects the rich tapestry of Cajun and Creole folklore, blending elements of European, African, and Native American traditions to create unique and localized myths.

The queen would like to thank her hair stylist and makeup artist, Dustin McElroy, and all the stylists at Ambiance Salon for helping make this possible. She would also like to thank Kathy Marmillion for creating her "Rougarou Queen" sash and the staff at Chez Lili Bridal for all of their hard work and support. She appreciates Dristy Foret Photography for beautifully capturing all of the hard work and talent that went into creating the fifolet-inspired queen. Most importantly, she would like to thank her husband and kids, along with all of her family and friends, for their love and support during the preparation to be the Rougarou Queen. And lastly, she thanks Jonathan Foret and the Rougarou Fest for the opportunity!

The Rougarou Fest is a family-friendly festival with a spooky flair that celebrates the rich folklore that exists along the bayous of Southeast Louisiana. It showcases live music, cultural activities, children’s activities, Cajun food, the Krewe Ga Rou parade, and so much more. All proceeds go to the South Louisiana Wetlands Discovery Center, a nonprofit organization that is revolutionizing how we think, teach and learn about Louisiana’s disappearing coast.

Each year a Rougarou Queen is selected to represent the festival at various events throughout the region. The queen is selected from our large team of volunteers by a committee of festival organizers. This ensures that our queen is aware of the details of our festival since she has been a part of bringing our event to life in previous years.

The Rougarou Queen will reign over the parade at 7PM Saturday, October 19, 2024.

Celebrate the Sweetness of Community at FirstLine Schools’ Sweet Potato Fest 2024!

(New Orleans – October 2024) - Get ready for a root-filled celebration like no other at the annual Sweet Potato Fest, hosted by Edible Schoolyard NOLA at Arthur Ashe Charter School! FirstLine Schools invites families, friends, and neighbors to come together for a day of festive fun, delicious food, and hands-on activities that celebrate one of fall's beloved vegetables: the sweet potato!

Event Details:

  • Date: Saturday, October 19, 2024
  • Time: 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
  • Location: Ashe Edible Schoolyard Oak Park, 1456 Gardena Dr., New Orleans, LA 70122

This year’s Sweet Potato Fest is set to be the most exciting yet, offering a variety of fun activities for all ages. Here’s what you can look forward to:

  1. HARVEST - Roll up your sleeves and help dig up Ashe’s sweet potato bounty. Prizes await for those who find the biggest, smallest, or most uniquely shaped sweet potato!
  2. FEAST - Sample mouth-watering sweet potato dishes prepared by local chefs, families, and ESYNOLA educators. Festival-goers can vote in the ever-popular Sweet Potato Cook-Off — your taste buds decide the winner!
  3. CELEBRATE - Enjoy lively music, face painting, arts and crafts with a "tater-twist," interactive games, and more, making this event the perfect outing for the whole family.
  4. PARADE! – Don’t miss the Ashe Aces Marching Unit as they lead the joyful Sweet Potato Parade around the schoolyard and neighborhood. Join in the festivities as we march, dance, and celebrate the season!

"We're excited to bring the community together for this annual celebration of one of our favorite fall vegetables," said Zach O’Donnell, ESYNOLA Program Manager. "The Sweet Potato Fest is not just about food—it's about fostering community spirit and showcasing the talents of our students and local chefs."

The Sweet Potato Fest gives students and families the chance to connect with nature and the cycle of the seasons by getting hands-on in the garden. It’s a day to honor local farmers, celebrate culinary traditions, and open conversations about sustainable agriculture — all while enjoying a fun, healthy day outdoors. Above all, it’s about the simple joy of digging into the earth, sharing good food, and building a stronger community.

The event is free and open to the public, so gather your friends and family for a day filled with unforgettable memories. Whether you're tasting innovative sweet potato dishes, cheering on parade participants, or simply enjoying the festive atmosphere, Sweet Potato Fest 2024 is not to be missed!

The Project

This collaboration is aligned with our city’s efforts to uplift community voices and utilize our city’s culture to bring positive change to the community. We can bring opportunities for small businesses, local artists, and culture bearers. Most importantly, with community support, the project will create a self-funded long-term impact on our city, helping create positive change and local investment through the arts. The artwork will be both meaningful and representative of the diversity of our city, boosting social cohesion and strengthening community relationships.

The inaugural NOLA Mural Fest will launch in the fall of 2024 at Beanlandia October 25th-27th.

Billy Nungesser Lt. Governor of Louisiana

For the fourth consecutive year, Louisiana will showcase its vibrant culture in the 2025 Tournament of Rose Parade in Pasadena, California! This year’s float, featuring a Louisiana alligator adorned with beads, a Cajun dance hall, and pots of boiled seafood, perfectly captures the essence of a “Louisiana Saturday Night.” Plus, enjoy mid-parade entertainment by rising country star Timothy Wayne!

We can’t wait to share Louisiana’s celebratory spirit and unique culture with the world once again.
