Medicare Advantage New Rules
On September 30, new federal rules kick in to “prohibit overly general ads about the Medicare Advantage program that often tend to confuse and mislead.”

The regulation requires those who sell MA plans to: 
  • Fully explain coverage 
  • Make sure benefits are available where someone seeing the ads lives
  • Specify the name of the plan it is trying to get you to join
  • Limit use of the name Medicare and never use images of Medicare cards
  • Make clear that the toll-free number leads to an insurance company, not Medicare

ACA Preventative Care Court Ruling
The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has temporarily halted the enforcement of a lower court's ruling that found a portion of the Affordable Care Act's preventive care coverage requirements unconstitutional. Non-grandfathered health plans and issuers must continue to cover preventive care services without cost sharing until the 5th Circuit issues its final ruling. Medicare recipients are not affected by these proceedings.
