The IntraContinental Region - Women's League for Conservative Judaism

August 23, 2026/10 Elul 5786

Message from Meryl Nason, President

As we begin a new year together in the IntraContinental Region, we have an opportunity to reaffirm who we are and what we aspire to build. Our strength has always come from the women who show up, who lead with heart, and who bring their passion for Jewish life into every corner of our communities. This year, our work will be guided by three central priorities: nurturing community, cultivating leadership, and strengthening learning.

Nurturing Community

Community is the foundation of everything we do. When women feel connected, supported, and valued, they are empowered to participate more fully and joyfully. This year, we will focus on creating spaces—both in person and virtual—where relationships can flourish. Whether through regional gatherings, collaborative programs, or small‑group initiatives, we aim to deepen the bonds that make our region vibrant and resilient.

Cultivating Leadership

Leadership is not limited to titles; it grows from encouragement, mentorship, and opportunity. Our region is filled with women whose talents and voices can shape the future of WLCJ. We will invest in leadership development by offering training, mentorship pathways, and meaningful roles for emerging leaders. When more women step forward with confidence, our entire region becomes stronger.

Strengthening Learning

Jewish learning is at the heart of our identity. It connects us to tradition, inspires personal growth, and strengthens our shared purpose. This year, we will expand accessible learning opportunities—text study, workshops, speaker series, and collaborative learning across sisterhoods. Our goal is to make learning feel inviting, energizing, and central to our communal life.

Looking Ahead

These priorities are not separate threads—they weave together to form a strong, interconnected fabric. When we nurture community, we create fertile ground for leadership. When we cultivate leadership, we inspire deeper learning. And when we strengthen learning, we enrich the community that sustains us.

Together, we will build a year filled with connection, growth, and shared purpose. I am honored to walk this path with all of you.

Please note the following:

Spotlight: Congregation Beth Torah's Sisterhood Shabbat

Our President, Meryl Nason, had the privilege and honor of attending Congregation Beth Torah's Sisterhood Shabbat. It was a wonderful event and she officiated at installing their new board. Please read the attached poem. It's inspiring and tells us why belonging to Sisterhood is so important.  Here are some pictures from the Kabbalat Shabbat of Congregation Beth Torah's Sisterhood Shabbat.

Please join us for our first Region event!

Hear our Voice:

I am excited to share with you that the Shema Koleinu -Hear Our Voice Torah Fund Campaign has currently raised $169,000 towards it’s 2026-2027 goal of $1,150,000. Since July 1st, 619 donors have made their voices heard in support of this campaign. Each of us has the opportunity to participate and every donation is valued. Please be part of the chorus of voices who are creating educational opportunities for our future Rabbis, Cantors, Jewish educators, and Jewish community professionals.

Every sisterhood member is a Torah Fund ambassador. I encourage those with pins to wear them proudly in synagogue and at your high holiday gatherings to show your support for the Torah Fund Campaign. The pin is also known to be a great conversation starter for those who do not yet know what it represents.
