The First Methodist Eastland Clothes Closet - Serving Eastland County Since 1991
Located at 301 S. Mulberry in Eastland - Open Wednesday and Friday, 1 – 4 PM
All Donations Are Given Back to the Community at NO COST

Open to the public every Wednesday and Friday 1-4:00 PM. All items in the store are available at no cost to the community. The Clothes Closet is sponsored by the First Methodist Eastland. The store is clean and well organized. The clothing is neatly arranged by female, male, and children’s wear for the current season. Do you need a new bedspread or comforter? Eastlander Designs, a local sewing company that makes bedspreads and drapes for hotels, donates items that don’t pass factory inspections. Also available are other household items needed for the home. You will find children’s toys, books, small appliances, and more.
The Clothes Closet accepts donations of clean men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing. Needed are bedding items such as fitted sheets, clean pillows, and blankets. Bring kitchen items such as cookware, dishes, silverware, and small working appliances. Household items, frames, lamps, books, and children’s toys are accepted for donation.
There is a high demand for children’s clothing of all sizes, blankets, fitted sheets, men’s jeans, socks. Please no mattresses, furniture, large appliances, or electronics. They just don’t have a space for large donation items.
The Clothes Closet is managed by Shelia Wright and faithful volunteers Darrell Basham, and Mary Graham. Shelia has been operating the facility for 11 years. Darrell has been volunteering at the facility for 8 – 9 years. Mary started helping in the store about 2 -3 months ago. They all agreed that the best part of their work is meeting new people and serving the community.
They need more help! If you are interested in volunteering at the Clothes Closet, please contact First Methodist Eastland at 254-629-1022. Stop by and see us!
Music Ministry
Hello, everyone! Three things:

1. As many of you know I will be starting as full-time Music Minister at our church on June 1st. I am
beyond excited for this new endeavor and am grateful to all those who have made this possible. Dale
and I have been brainstorming on ways to enrich our mission through music and will be initiating several
new ministries in the coming months and year, some of which include a 5th Sunday singing night, a
summer music camp, and a youth music program. The details are still being worked out and we have yet
to establish any concrete dates but know that these events are underway and will be implemented
soon. So, we ask for your prayers as we prepare to expand this area of our missions.

2. On another note (pun intended), God has blessed our family with our newest edition, Lyle Elder
Hutcheson! He is healthy and does his job of keeping us up at night! But all joking aside, we appreciate
all your love and support and want to extend our gratitude to those who brought us meals during the
first two weeks of getting out of the hospital. They were delicious! We are blessed to be part of such a
wonderful church family!

3. And finally, I am excited to announce that I have been accepted to participate in the International
Tonal Composers Festival in Brasilia, Brazil this July. I submitted a newly written composition for
Symphony Orchestra that will be premiered by the Brazilian National Orchestra under the baton of their
Maestro, Claudio Cohen. You know that Leighann and I traveled to Sofia, Bulgaria last year to have my
Piano Concerto performed by the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, which by the way was an amazing
experience, so this will be my second professional collaboration as a composer with a world-renowned
orchestra. The thing I find most worthy of noting for both opportunities is that the music that was
performed for each occasion was directly written to portray the Christian faith. My Piano Concerto is a
musical testimony in a sense, and my new piece entitled “Who We Are” explores the idea of finding our
identity not in worldly things but in Christ alone. In a way, I feel it is God’s way of allowing me to fulfill
his command of “preaching the gospel to all nations” (Mark 13:10).

God is good all the time!
In the service of Jesus Christ,
Cody

Mulberry School News
April was a busy month for our students at Mulberry School. We had a great turn out for donuts with Dad, and an extremely successful art show. A big thank you to all that came out and helped support our students. We just took a zoo trip with the Kinder prep class. May 3rd is muffins with mom and the Mulberry benefit concert at 6:30 that evening.

The month of May is going to be gone before we know it. Graduation for our students moving on to kindergarten is going to be May 15, along with our end of the year program at 6:00. Our last day of Mulberry is going to be May 17 and we will celebrate the end of our time together with a pizza party and a fun water day.
