Jesus is Uniquely Qualified to Be the Spokesman of God.
Have you ever been arrested and put in jail for being a Christian? Do you think that might cause you to question your faith? Have you ever been fired from a job because or your Christian faith or perhaps not been hired at a job because you were a Christ follower? Have you ever been shunned by members of your town or community or even your family because you were a Christian or because you had been baptized in Jesus' name?
Most of us in America, have not had to face those issues, however, the early Christians did. The early Jewish believers living in Israel especially faced social and economic persecution. Some of them, especially the 2nd generation believers who had not personally seen or heard Jesus, like their parents had, were feeling the weight of this persecution and starting to question whether or not it was worth it. They were even considering going back under the law, and back into the old Temple worship. They needed not only to be encouraged, but also to be reminded of the Biblical reasons why following Jesus was so much better than their old traditional religious rituals, even though they had personally experienced the cost of being associated with Christ.
The Book of Hebrews was written to help them understand exactly why God had sent the Messiah, and how much better off they were for believing in Jesus. They needed to see that their own Scriptures told them that Jesus would come to be their Savior, Sacrifice, Priest, and more. This book starts off by showing that Jesus is greater than the prophets, the angels, the priests, even Moses. You will be challenged in your own faith by learning these truths about Jesus.
The book starts by giving 7 truly incredible statements about Jesus that could not be said about any other person, great leader or religious leader, whether in the past or in the present.
