Representing & Communicating Effectively with Domestic Violence Survivors

Thursday, October 19, 2023

2:00 to 5:00 pm

Join our expert panelists during "National Domestic Violence Awareness Month" for a thought provoking review of how to

interview and counsel domestic violence survivors.

At this seminar, the speakers will present an in depth analysis of how to best communicate and represent clients who have experienced the effects of trauma in the form of threats, imminent harm, and/or family abuse. The cycle of violence and issues including barriers to leaving will be addressed, as well as how to prepare your client for the court process, including working with advocates and maintaining confidentiality. The client interview process will be discussed, followed by a role play. This seminar will feature a view from the Bench of these cases.
