The Message this Week
Preaching Text: John 20:1-18
Easter! We will hear the story of the empty tomb from the Gospel of John. I say the story of the empty tomb because it is not clear that the disciples or Mary Magdalene fully understand the resurrection. And in the midst of the resurrection, Jesus names the ascension, which some argue is even more important than the resurrection. I'm not sure we fully comprehend-even thousands of years later. What if our goal is not to completely understand with our brains the logistics of the resurrection, but let ourselves get swept along in wonder and awe of discovery?
Holy God, we come to the tomb expectantly. Help us to come with open hearts, ready to receive You as You are, not only as we want You to be. In Jesus' name, Amen.

| | Deliver some joy after Easter! Let Michelle Lata know if you would be willing to deliver the flowers decorating the altar to one of our homebound folks after the 11 AM service or if you have someone with whom you'd like to share some Easter joy! | |
- Cheer our hearts with the good news of your resurrection, that we might be energized to proclaim you far and wide.
- Join our praise with all creation and make of us one chorus of earthly joy.
- Breathe new life and inspiration into leaders at every level, that they might joyfully work to govern with equity and justice, for the good of every single interdependent human being on earth.
- In your resurrection, we are made new. Revive and heal those who still long for wholeness.
- Keep us ever mindful that in you we have our lives, and because of you, death has no power.
Hear all our prayers, spoken and unspoken, and gather them into your loving arms, for the sake of our risen savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
