ICYMI: Intel announces that construction and tool installation at Fab 62 are fully underway

Intel has confirmed that construction and tool installation are fully underway at Fab 62, its sixth high-volume manufacturing facility at the company's Ocotillo campus in Chandler. Operations are expected to begin by the end of 2028.

Intel has operated in Chandler since 1980 and employs approximately 10,000 people. Fab 52, which opened in September 2025, was recently named Project of the Year by the Phoenix Business Journal. Intel previously said it planned to complete the build out of Fab 62 based on market demand and customer needs.

“Fab 62 is a long-term commitment to Chandler’s workforce and to the suppliers, contractors and local businesses that grow alongside Intel," said Micah Miranda, Chandler's Economic Development Director. "Investments like this are why global semiconductor and advanced manufacturing companies continue to choose Chandler, and why the next chapter of American manufacturing is being written here.”

City of Chandler to launch community attraction campaign

The City of Chandler is launching a community attraction campaign focused on Chandler’s long-term future.

Like many communities, we are seeing demographic shifts that will shape our workforce, economy, and school enrollment over the next 5 to 10 years. This campaign gets ahead of those trends by sharing Chandler’s job growth, safe neighborhoods, family amenities, and high-achieving schools with the young families and professionals who will sustain our community for decades to come.

This effort is a partnership with Chandler Unified School District, Kyrene School District, Mesa Public Schools, and Tempe Union High School District, along with the Chandler Industrial Development Authority.

Work begins in November with a stakeholder-driven discovery phase to ensure the campaign reflects what residents, families, and partners love about Chandler.

For more information on the campaign and its importance, check out the recent ABC15 Arizona feature story.

Get to know Chandler's semiconductor ecosystem

The City of Chandler is one of only a few cities that can say the entire semiconductor value chain lives within its borders, from design to fab to test. Here's a high-level look at some of the companies that make up our semiconductor ecosystem:

"Chandler didn't become a semiconductor hub by accident," said Micah Miranda, Economic Development Director. "Decades of partnership with industry have built an ecosystem where a company can find its customers, suppliers, and talent just down the road."
