Celebrating 27+ Years of Leadership: CEO Carol Looks Ahead to Retirement

Plus Credit Union is proud to recognize the upcoming retirement of our Chief Executive Officer, Carol, who will be retiring at the end of this year, after more than 27 years of service to this organization and its members.

Carol’s tenure spans one of the most turbulent periods in modern financial history, including the dot-com collapse, the housing crisis of 2008, a global pandemic that reshaped how Americans work and bank, and the rapid acceleration of digital finance that has fundamentally changed member expectations. Navigating that landscape while keeping rates fair, service personal, and the institution sound required not just competence, but genuine commitment to the people being served.

Under her guidance, Plus Credit Union maintained its commitment to the cooperative values that define what a credit union is meant to be: an institution that exists to serve its members, first and always. Decisions were made with the long-term health of the membership in mind, and that approach shaped the organization you interact with today, from the products available to the way our staff is trained to serve you.

The culture Carol built at Plus Credit Union shows up in every member interaction, every loan processed, and every question answered by our team. Under her leadership, member service was never treated as a department. It was an expectation that ran through every role, every decision, and every interaction at Plus Credit Union.

As she steps away, Plus Credit Union remains in a strong position. You can be confident that the board has planned for this transition thoughtfully, and we look forward to sharing more with our membership in the new year.

Carol’s retirement marks the close of a chapter that has defined this organization for more than a generation. We are deeply grateful for her years of dedication, her unwavering commitment to this membership, and the standard of excellence she leaves behind. On behalf of our board, staff, and the members she has served so faithfully, we wish her a retirement that is every bit as rewarding as the career she built.

Pause Before You Pay:

Protect Yourself From Digital Payment Scams

Digital payment services like Zelle® make it easy to send money within minutes. That same speed can make it difficult to recover money sent to a scammer.

Be cautious if someone pressures you to act immediately, asks you to send money to “protect” your account, or requests your password, PIN or verification code. Plus Credit Union will never ask you to send money through Zelle® or another payment service to protect your account.

Only send money to people and businesses you know and trust. Verify the recipient’s information and confirm unexpected requests using a phone number you already have.

If something does not feel right, stop and contact MemberService. A quick conversation could help prevent a costly mistake.

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Stay alert, slow down and pause before you pay.

How to Do Car Buying Right This Fall

Buying a new car should be exciting….not stressful. With a little preparation, you can shop with confidence, find a vehicle that fits your lifestyle and make a financing choice that works for your budget.

1. Know Your Budget

Before you start shopping, take a look at what payment comfortably fits your monthly budget. Remember to consider insurance, fuel, maintenance and registration along with your car payment.

2. Get Pre-Approved

Knowing your financing options before you visit the dealership puts you in the driver's seat. A pre-approval helps you understand your budget and gives you a financing option to compare when you're ready to buy.

3. Find the Right Vehicle

Make a list of what matters most to you: fuel efficiency, space, technology, safety, reliability or just having a little fun behind the wheel! Focus on the features you'll actually use.

4. Look at the Whole Deal

A great deal isn't just about the monthly payment. Consider the vehicle price, interest rate, loan term, total amount financed and the loan to value. Don't be upside down; know exactly what you're getting.

5. Take Your Time

It's okay to ask questions, compare options and read the paperwork before signing. The right vehicle and the right financing should leave you feeling comfortable about your decision.

6. Enjoy the Ride!

Once you've done your homework and found a vehicle that fits your needs and budget, finish your financing with Plus Credit Union. It's time for the fun part...driving it home!

Rooted in Community, Connected by Purpose

It’s been another busy month for Plus Credit Union! Our team hit the course for the ULAN Golf Tournament, enjoying a great day of golf while connecting with participants and supporting the event.

We also joined members and their families at the Heat & Frost Local 135 Picnic, where our team had a great time meeting attendees, playing games, and handing out giveaways and prizes.

And congratulations to our winners, Georgie and Emmanuel! We hope you both enjoy your prizes!

From the golf course to union gatherings and celebrating our members, we love getting out, making connections, and being part of the communities we serve.
